  • Plum?!?

I always wondered why its called plum. I checked with other schools and no one knows why we call the clinch the plum. From what I hear Plum does not translate to clinch so why dont we call plum work clinch work??
Thanks for any one who can help me,
    Nick

Fairtex pronounces it bum, but it refers to the same Thai word. (The Thais pronounce R's and L's somewhat differently.)

Thanks, I emailed fairtex to see what they could come up with. I know in the bigger scope of things it doesnt really matter what you call it as long as the technique is correct its just something thats irritating me =)

Is it Thai boxing or kickboxing?
Sorry if it is a stupid question to ask.

              Got my answer!!

Thanks Terry and every one, the ansewr is bum = grappling. You guys were right. I got my info from John Wayne Par (he fights out of the Bonchoo academy).

Johnbid, the plum/bum is clinch work used in Muay Thai. If you watch MMA Wanderlai Silva really knows how to effectively use the plum. IF you want to see a master of this technique watch Diesel Noi. He is one of the greatest thai champs ever and devestates people in the clinch.

Its unreal, JWP trains and fights all the time in thailand and he said for all his years of Muay Thai, he has only learned about 50% of all the grappling!
