  • New starter - have I left it too late to fight???

Hi everyone, great forum, glad I found it.

Just joined my local Muay Thai Boxing club and I'm really getting into it. Just wondered, generally how long do you need to study before your good enough to fight competitivly??

Have I left it too late at 26, hope not, I'd like to experience at least 1 proper fight before I'm well and truly over the hill.

      Dave,

I can relate to your situation. I'm about 28 now and just finished up two fights this year. They'll most likely be the last two Muay Thai fights I'll have.

I think you can do it if you work hard, have a good trainer and are in decent condition (or aren't affraid to get into decent condition).

If you aren't in too much of a hurry you can wait for an opponent that has your relative skill level and age. Then father time isn't as big a factor. Sometimes however, you're not so lucky. And depending upon your environment, there may not be that many fighters to choose from in the first place.

      Just my two cents.

But if you want to do it, I say go for it! Train your heart out and then see how you feel six months down the road... You may discover fighting isn't your bag after all. Or, you may find that you take to it like a fish to water. You'll never know unless you try.

      Sincerely,
      Brian

        Cheers Brian

I'll give it 6 months hard training and see how I feel.
