everyone by now is probably familiar with the concept of triangular footwork, most probably from exposure to the Filipino Martial Arts. But in the Thai National Martial Arts this concept is taken in a different direction. We prefer to cut the angle as closely as possible, more like a very thin wedge going point to point with another very thin wedge. To practice this stand against your partner and let him kick at you. If you move along a wide triangle you will get kicked, plain and simple. But if you slide by him as close as possible to his center you will be missed. Or instead of drawing your triangles in the center of a square, draw instead a very long rectangle then bisect it corner to corner. See where I am going here? Remember though, everyone must seek their own truth, and what works for me may not work for you, especially if you do not practice. At the Chalambok Academy we say Self Awareness leads to Self Honesty leads to Self Teaching leads to Personal Power. Are you self aware?-Steve Wilson, the Original Chalambok
