in someone's post they were asking a question and a side thought of there's was how early people began to train in Thailand...
I picked up a very nice magazine today called the Asian Martial Arts (looked more like the New Yorker than a cheap martial arts mag..pick it up if you ever see it) and in the writer had gone to Thailand on vacation and went to one of the main fighting stadiums on fight nigt and baiscly described the crowd, the betting, the fights, and a little history.
there was a few sentences on starting age and this is a summary.
most begin at age 6.they are sent by their families or recruited. (schools send out scouts in search of talent) It did not give specifics to how long they train each day, however it did say that their training and diet was very regimented. One match the guy saw was between two 11 year olds and he said they had very defined muscles including their abs....he said most retire in their 20s and if they get good enough can make up to 2300.00 a match.
