I'm glad you liked the list. I recently picked up a copy of Selby's "The Room", but I'm gonna wait awhile before I start in on it. If you like the more spiritual ones, another good read is Sidharta by Herman Hesse It's essentialy a fictional account of the Buddha's life. Yeah, my girlfriend is fantastic. We started dating 2 months before I left for Asia, and I convinced her to come with me for a year and a half. Not only that, but she's coming to Thailand with me for 6 months to train Muay Thai. She'll also be continuing her Thai massage training, and start a Thai cooking course. Not a day goes by that I'm not thankful for her.

Chalambok, you might just post your entire library on the web somewhere. It sounds like you have a huge collection of some pretty good books.

I'm surprised that no one has listed the best martial arts related book to come out in recent years--The Science of Martial Arts Training by Charles Staley Well worth checking out!

THE WHOLE EARTH CATALOG - edited by Stewart Brand
any edition will do. This is a marvelous catalog of catalogs.
Included are subjects such as Loompanics, the science/art
of anarchy. Just a little about martial arts, but a wealth of
information about how to live a martial artist's life

              Alex Bay

hey Alex, has it been over wet in Tokyo lately. Sure been raining here a lot. I had to think a long time to come up with something as unique as the last submission, but mainly I just want this thread to go back to the top.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears-A Cosmic Fairy Tale by R Buckminster Fuller. A truly different take on time and space with interesting implications for the serious martial artist. My totally nonbiased review, of course.

                  A Great New Book

I just found this book in the library, and it has lots of good stuff applicable to all of us. Plus it is a fairly quick read. It is very well-researched, with all sources cited. Some of the chapter titles are How Much Is Enough...The Fitness Business...Maximum Heart Rates and Fat-Burning Zones...Training Lore. I highly recommend this book, for what that is worth

ULTIMATE FITNESS the quest for TRUTH about exercise and health by Gina Kolata

                    A Must Read

Stupid White Men - Michael Moore

the director of such classic films as Bowling for Columbine and Roger & Me has written an inciteful and insightful book about how the United States actually works. It is also an appropriate metaphor appropriate to how martial arts politicians seem to **** up everything good.

Hmmmm? Are we talking only the books written in English, 'cause I have a whole bunch of books in Russian and French (not to mention Serbian) to recommend?
                          However:
GOING FOR BLACK BELT - Tonnz Gummerson (it is on phzsical preparation actually).
FIGHTER'S NOTEBOOK - I mean, how come noone has mentioned this one already!?.
KNIVES, KNIFE FIGHTING AND RELATED HASSLES - "Animal" MacYoung (by far my foavorite MA writer).

                          Anything by Pavel Tsatsouline.

I was told by Master Chai to charge $600 a day plus expenses for my seminars. What is your worth?
