  • Knees and elbow conditioning ?

Is there such thing ? Or does anyone know any exercises that will help you knee faster, and with power, enough power that if you knee someone in the gut, they go down breathless ?

Yes. It is a mystical secret of the ancients. I can reveal it, for the princley sum of only $100. Or, better still, let Guardmaster buy it, and then try and sell it off at a reduced rate.

But, since you are a contributor here, I will give you a clue for free.

    Practice.

What's that? Is that French for something? You Europeans are always speaking of the foreign words....

        Two Words:

        Telephone Directory.

Make sure its a nice big THICK one. My Wing-Chun friend uses them to strengthen his wrists. I use it for my knees and elbows a lot. If you can strap it to a low section of a tree then its good for low-kicks as well.

You know those low pulleys you find at gyms. Attach a your ankle to it and start kneeing. Increase the weight on it untill you're using the whole stack.

            Hmmm. Not a bad idea.

BUT... i still recommend the Yellow Pages. You can take it with you to school or work. Very portable and abundant. Dont need to join a gym or anything.

IMO power has little to do with rendering someone breathless when it comes to knees, its all about technique and, like Bri Thai said, that comes with practice....lots of it.

try reverse lunges when you are training your legs. When you bring your knee up do so like you are throwing a knee strike

What about thigh conditiong? Having concrete shins is important but what about those thighs?

Never heard of any thigh conditioning besides the general leg training, but even with that a kick to the thigh is still gonna hurt

The thigh hurts because of the femural artery being hit, and you can't condition an artery. Perhaps adding some muscle mass will reduce the effects or, better still, block!

When I look into the bad stuff into MT

When it comes to thinking about Muay Thai fighting in the ring, all the stuff that can happen in there scares me. Such as paralyzed leg for a period of time, broken shin bone, forearms beaking, Elbow to the nose--> broken nose, broken ribs. one added thing i`ll have to say, IMPROPER SHIN CONDITIONING. I get depressed a little everytime when I think about my shins. Because I conditioned them improperly and will probably have bone surgery later in life. I used the rolling beer bottle method. I stopped after 2 months until I heard it was a bad idea. But one thing I can hope for, is that I`m not 100% sure if it is improperly conditioned, and can still be conditioned by hitting the Thai Pads and MT banana bag, or Heavy bag. So that I won`t receive muscle pain if I ever block with my shin.

I agree 100% !!!!!!!!A great deterrent for wanting to ever fight again is a video that any one can download. Go to your search engine and put in sons of the dragon go to there martial arts web page and look at videos it say grusome broken leg. That makes me not want to ever kick again! In the same sense though it makes me train harder so I'm not that guy. I've been doing the beer bottle roll thing why is it bad?
