I'm a former police officer, and when sparring, my partner was female. The point of view she took was that, on the street, gender doesn't exist. Male or female, we had the same fight to win. Taking it easy on her meant that she wouldn't be prepared for the real world! It worked great for us.

Well in Judo I spar with a couple of women. One is the about the same age as me, and she has some real talent she is pretty good in randori, as she has this awesome Morotoe Seoinage where she goes down onto her knees, very effective, but now I hook my legs onto her back and go for the choke. Apart from that she is a very good fighter, she has done very well in her tournaments and I for one think she will go far.
I reckon it is a good idea to train females with males really helps the females out as men are the more violent sex, and proberley more knowledge in some cases, I reckon they can learn alot.

"go out on a date with a REAL girl." Meaning? :P but, I am starting to change, I think I would like to date a woman who can protect me (lol)...

Chalice, yeah... I can't comment anymore on this subject, as I haven't spar with a female before. Althought, like PentjackSilat... I'll also hold back on males too, even when they stand taller and bigger than me, cos I don't want them to get into the killing mentality! I spar to learn from and help others, also I have lots of fun sparring. Newcomes would just turn a anixous or furious.

I have never been in a fight with someone smaller than I. I have been attacked by someone carrying a hatchet, someone with an axe handle, pistol-whipped unconscious. by a nephew with a cap pistol. LOL I have been training most of my life. Many of my instructors have been female, and they never seemed to let up on me because of my sex. But it could have worked that way. Now I try to be honest with my students, regardless of size or sex. Let them learn everything they can, just as we did. Seems to me those teachers I have the most respect for are the ones who could be totally honest with me. My jujutsu instructor was a woman, who took off her black belt to give me when I was finally promoted, after about 18 years. At the Buddhai Swan about half the instructors were female, including all of the Masamarn family plus students who had been there for many years. They worked me from an okay 160 lbs down to 146 in three months, and believe me a woman with a sword can make you pretty quick pretty quickly. That was a nice turn of phrase right there. Anyway, I have even been shown some muay Thai by Master Chai's sisters in the kitchen at Muongthongthani. Sanook makh mah! And let's also be truthful; I am pretty sure Master Chai has never gone his hardest against probably 99+% of his students, myself included. Thank God for small favors. * Please note I make no preferential referent to any specific religion, sect or hide-bound recidivisms.

Sparring with a female is hard in my opinion, because you have to give realistic training while still not seriously injuring her. I personally try to avoid it, I'm always worried I'm going to break them or something, not that the girls in my dojo are old and decrepit, but they just seem so delicate and sweet, until they accidentally kick you in the balls!

Also, sparring a girl with rather large breasts is destracting to me. I'm thinking: I'm not going to look, I'm not going to look, then I inevitably look(boing, boing) and then whack! I get kicked right upside my head. Nope, not a very pleasant experience to spar with a female.

                I love your posts Chalambok!

If I let my defence down against my girlfriend (in the ring), she would hurt me. Seriously.
