Out of curiosity, did anyone here ever fought against a person from the military or the navy in a fight ? Any type of fight, and who one ? Anyways how tough are they really.

I have been in fights with a military guys and most of the time they are easy enough but they are just like everyone else and you never know what kind of training they have had before they joined the military or even while they are in the service. I would not suggest picking fights with them but if a you must defend yourself I wouldnt let there military background scare you

iv spared with a person in the military....he is a little rough, but then again thats just because hes been in the class longer then i have, and we have spared a couple times so hes confortable hurting me a little more.
i dont think it is a big deal if they are a soldier, it realy depends on how highly trained they are.

At my first gym (located in an army logistics base) I fought an amatuer muay thai match against someone who was in the army (parachute batalion and trained sniper). Year or two older than me , shorter, built. Very agressive.
The one thing i can say is that his boxing skills were excellent. Most soldiers in South Africa train in boxing. But his fitness in particular was unbelievable.
But that didnt stop me from KO-ing him with a knee in the second round. His boxing habits cost him when he started to duck , bob and weave from my attacks. His legs were easy targets as well - but he seemed to have a some good conditioning on them.
He couldve beaten me if he was a bit bigger. By the time i knocked him out i was already huffing and puffing from exhaustion. Another round and i wouldve been overwhelmed. Thats one thing i can say about soldiers . . . they are FIT as hell.

ok well here is a story for you.
My Half brother and his step brother who was in the navy went into a coast gaurd bar. anyway, The step brother shot his mouth off and got the crap kicked out of him by the Coasties.
He ended up with a broken jaw and a bunch of other injuries. My half brother ran and didn't get a scratch.
Military people are not trained all that well for hand to hand combat in general. Doesn't mean they can't be formidable fighters.

This is what I think
From information I saw, I thought soldiers fought hard, rough, and they know how to cause pain. And also, "they fight as if they were fighting for their life" somethnig like that. I dunno movies don`t really prove anything but When soldiers fight its like, "damn man their so rough!" and the way they train, holy crap. I heard they even blow`em up with explosives, blow`em up (not enough to kill you).

i have heard a little about the spetnaz training. I think they have regulations in the states which dont let there soldiers get it half as bad as the Spetnaz guys.
it realy depends on how intensive the training is. The RCMP for example get peper sprayed in the eyes as part of there training, but its all mainly physical endurance stuff.(RCMP's not the army...but i cant give definate examples of anything else...)
soldiers are tough, but that doesn't always mean there super fighters.
iv heard a couple reliable stories about soldiers who kicked the s.hit out of attackers but its possible they had other H2H training. (here in canada our soldiers are pretty well trained, but i dont know anything about there H2H stuff)

Self-defense is only an illusion, a dark cloak beneath which lurks a razor-sharp dagger waiting to be plunged into the first unwary victim.
Whoever declares that any weapon manufactured today, whether it be a nuclear missle or a .38 special, is created for self-defense should look a little more closely at his own image in the mirror. Either he is a liar or is deceiving himself.
Wing Chun kung fu is a very sophisticated weapon--nothing else. It is a science of combat, the intent of which is the total incapacitation of an opponent. It is straightforward, efficient and deadly. If you're looking to learn self-defense, don't study Wing Chun. It would be better for you to master the art of invisibility

Just to point out again, soldiers do not focus on hand to hand combat anymore for a reason--they don't use it outside of local bars. Special forces/military training just makes a tough individual, not a hand to hand master.

have you seen G.I Jane were she gets her ass kicked in that fake P.O.W. camp.....that stuff is not allowed in the U.S. army......they do not have such rules for the Russian special forces training.
Oh, and bye the way, in my systema class the instructor went through the Spetnaz training, and went on to train other special forces Units. So if he says something, about his spets training, i think he knows better then just about anybody.
Oh and dont think that just because a military has better H2H they have worse weapons training....that would be almost as bad as thinking you can be arrested in England for protecting your home from a violent intruder.
nice try Ryan

no beatings? My dad admits to beating them when trained guys for SERE. Its rather painful the way he described it. He trained guys for 'Interogation Resistance', so you can guess the pain that goes along with that.
Sure they aren't supposed to beat you, but who's gonna stop 'em?

Defensive? If you say so.
