Not sure about everywhere else but under Irish and UK rules (competition) you cant grapple or hold in Kickboxing. Take kickboxing for what it is.Karate in sports form. If you want to learn whats best for you then try different styles until you get the one that suits you. Then youll know for definate.

Orange and apples, if it were easy to learn , any blackbelt could get a championships . First you should train a few weeks and stop trying to outsmart yourself , go with what you find feels better. It´s not about the sport , but the sportsman.
