Just wondering... Does anyone know any students that have taken Muay Thai for quite some time (about a year) but still manage trouble fighting ? I mean they got the techniques and all but they just can`t somehow apply it in a fight, or just can`t fight naturally (full contact sparring with other students)?? Eh I`m not talking about street fights though...

it depend's on what level of contact your using as it can still be daunting getting hit in the face by a 16oz glove but it's good to start with light-continous sparring with someone of higher experience than yourself who's willing to spar with you without KOing u, try getting some padding if your struggling like - feet pads, shin pads, groin guard, body armour, head gear & gum sheild & just take it easy until you get use to being tapped in the face as you will never learn or get better when your just used as the gym punchbag.

Application Problems?
Just a funny word-game above, but this doesn't seem to be a problem as much as the time to realize class is the very hardest place to do well. And it is supposed to be. Everyone senior to you has watched the way you move, your timing; what can set you off. And new students don't know a thing about you, so they are always off-time and wrong-footed but still score. The reason sometimes the street seems 'easier' is because of the speed of the event and the out-of-contexuality. You literally do not have the time to not be relaxed. Now being a master, one who seems to never move but is always in the right place, is another thing completely. I can only hope it will happen someday, because I get hit, kicked, cut with spears and swords every time I care to work out, and I have been doing this a long time. I was headed somewhere with this, but I started watching Zoom on PBSOh well

the reason you or more experienced students can get caught out by new students is they swing a punch or kick just like someone on the street would which is very unauthodox and you sometimes are not used to people hitting like this. this is how Prince Nazeem Hammed (not sure about spelling) used to train in UK against unauthodox fighters and got used to the funny angles people punched at.
but it can also be that you just ain't got it in you (no offence) to want to really hurt someone (one of my biggest problems) and just cant get into that mood needed for the ring, dont worry your not the only one & it's nothing to be ashamed about.
just carry on training & try to find an (anger managment) friend to push you along.
LOL
