    THE DIFFERENCE

I will start by sayin the same thing I say In a lot of threads, anyone who dedicates there self to something deserves respect. But the DIFFERENCE is in the ring you can tap out have the towel thrown in or whatever. On the streets you wont be so fortunate! I seen a guy throw a gay ass kick and broke his foot that was the first thing that happened. In the ring the fights done your foots busted your pride maybe hurt but you still go home! Unfotunatly this wasn't in the ring and the guy just about had his life stomped out of him. Yes the streets are full of scrubs who think there tough...........But what about people like me? I am a roofer and bust my ass up there damn near every day I still lift weights jump rope run kick the bag and punch the bag, And still got time to take my Son to the park or whatever. How many of you have ever done a Roof? The faster you go the more roofs you do the more$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ It's damn hard work but I love MMA and still have time and enegry to work train and be a father. Are you saying that since I do not have time or money to go to a school I am not a reputable fighter? Since I don't have ant trophys that say I'm tough I'm not? If you put me in the ring with the top dog I would probaly get worked but put me in there with somone with the same amount of training time and you might be surprised. I refuse to limit myself to rules in fighting I will stand and strike and if you are a better striker than I'm taking it to the ground if you beat me there than I need to train harder. Is it common sense that if somone is a better boxer than you don't box them? If there a better wrestler than you don't wrestle them?

fighting in the ring involves fighting someone you don't know for the enjoyment of fighting. I'm sorry but I can't hurt somone cuz I love fighting. If I hit you you deserved it.

and if he's got a gun it's a total waste of time doing any training whatsoever.

goatnipps you can still fight in the ring even if you are a street fighter just think of it as adding to what you already know.

you can never learn to much just keep what works for you & in my case it's thaiboxing which helps me out on the street.

i think street fighting techniques/wrestling and holds are great if you got the time but all my time is spent helping other people out in my sport, i respect all people who have the time & dedication into anything which takes their mind off what's happening around them (i suppose we make our own cocoon to exist in and panic when it's touched)

        the end

When people produce guns, I will do 1 of 2 things RUN (the smartest) or pull mine if I have it with me (the respect thing).

Why does everybody wanna end the beef. I LOVE DEFENDING MYSELF, IT'S WHAT I DO. Have I done it again, defended myself against multiple attackers. I've never thought you could do that over the net, but I guess I was wrong.

All of you who "jumped" me have a nice fukkin weekend. Smoke one for me (you know).

Speaking of career and MA training, I've heard that UFC lght heavyweight contender Chuck Lidell is a former accountant. Cool - if this is true it just goes to show that MMA brings in folks from many backgrounds.

just because someone is known or is a better boxer/streetfighter or wrestler than yourself you dont give up, this is what fighting is all about that anything can happen, iv'e seen well respected fighters in & out of the ring still get beaten by that "lucky strike" or caught unaware if thats what you call it, anthing that can happen will happen but there's no such thing as destiny only chance & trying to cover all situations will increase your chances just like goatnipples training.

hav a nice weekend (hope this stupid f**king war ends)

                        why ring fight ?

Kungfupanda and Goatnipples: first allow me to apologize for trying to post here when it is so obviesly beyond my level of knowledge!! but since i got my black belt in 1966 i've had the mistaken notion that meny fights whether street or compitition are not always won by the best fighter, but by the fighter who can best control their emotitions and fight closest to their potiontal. and i've noticed in my fight setuations both street and compitition the fear of the unknown has caused me not to be able to fight my best. and by putting myself in uncomfortable situations i can learn to handle pressure more effectivly.and i'm very sorry that i did not realize that some of you are just so very good that you can achieve your highest level of ability just by strength of mind. so let me make and a suggestion and request , 1st the suggestion, start ring fighting, whether boxing, kickboxing, or mixed martial arts, with your ability to achive your full potenial so easy, with just a little focas on sport fighting you should be able to make more then the $200,000.oo to $3,000,000.oo your making now. 2nd the request, please post when your fights will be shown, I would love to see you destroy roy jones jr, ernesto hoost, tito ortiz, frank shamrock, and rickson gracie and all the rest of these RING FIGHTERS. i would gladly pay $29.95, or even $30.00 to see such an awsome level of skill. PLEASE KEEP US INFORMED, thank you.

Well how many times has it been said that people train for different reasons? Don’t think for a moment that just because someone is a competition fighter he cannot defend himself on the street. Or by the same token that he can. I’ve seen several street fights (bar brawls) etc. Most of these people had horrible technique and could have been easily destroyed by someone with a little training. I’ve been in a few myself and credit my training in maintaining my poise and my ability in avoiding being hit in the face. Yes I’ve seen real animals that would have been tough to fight do to their ferocity, size, etc. However just like a street fight is unpredictable so is a fight in the ring. Just like adrenaline gets pumping in the street so it does in the ring. In the street you need awareness and quick reactions, but you need these in the ring too. I’m not saying there aren’t differences but there are some similarities too. I’ve always have said that winning a street fight against a larger stronger opponent may take a bit of luck, but the more you train the luckier you’ll be (I read this quote some where). Not that I’m saying you should count on luck, but the more you train the better you’ll be. If your good in the ring doesn’t mean you’ll absolutely win in the street but you chance are a hell of a lot better.

Only amateurs go around looking for a fight to prove themselves. Read this:

                          The Amateur:

                          The amateur is an “ego” based animal who is looking for a fight “just because.” To be preyed upon by the amateur you do not have to be doing anything wrong, you just have to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. This beast is usually very identifiable;

                          - usually walks with attitude
                          - elbows pushed away from body
                          - verbally aggressive and rude to people within a few feet
                          - confrontations are usually triggered by eye contact

Some of the “Ritualized” combative signs that are apparent from the amateur prior to contact, but not limited to, include:

                          - splaying arms to express exclamation
                          - beckoning with finger
                          - nodding of head, usually accompanies finger beckoning
                          - bulging eyes
                          - acquires innate fighting stance
                          - will close distance during confrontation

Alot of people on here think I run around starting shit, I used to do that when i was 16 and trying to prove something. Now I ONLY finish fights. I still get those urges and have those days, but I hit my bag instead. I could have used a damn bag when I was 16-18, because the consequences 3rd degree assault charges weren't very fun. It did make me mentaly tougher though.
