  • did MA on tv effect you growing up?

just to get away from the serious stuff for a moment can you remember any tv programs that had Martial Arts of one kind or another while you were growing up or maybe now that may have had an effect on you starting or becoming interested in MA yourself.

    my earliest tv shows were:

    The Water Margin
    Monkey
    Kung-Fu
    Batman

    & later ones like:
    Martial Law
    Buffy&Angel
    PowerRangers (for the kids)

my misses says Wonderwoman (LOL cant remember that one)

Monkey Links - Monkey contains links relating to the cult Japanese TV series Monkey (sometimes called Monkey Magic).

The reason I got into martial arts was because of TV and film. Films I thought are sh*t now were pretty spectacular when I was young. I have to admit I thought ninjas were awsome when I was about 9 or 10!

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book was quite good too!

I tried practicing the crane kick in the back garden! I wonder if that would work in the UFC?

Monkey Magic was just pure class!

crouchting tiger hidden dragon is my favourite film ever. one day i will learn how to fly. catching a dart with chopsticks might be fun too. enter the dragon was also good. i can remember every single word in the scene where han kills roper/williams (which one was the black one whose "style was unorthadox"
            "but effective"
"it is not the art, but the combat which you enjoy"
            "no winning"
"we are all ready to win mr williams/roper, just as we are born knowing only life. it is defeat that you must learn to accept"
"i dont waste my time with it. when it comes i wont even notice"
            "oh..how so?"
"ill be too busy looking good"
"what were you looking for when you attacked my guards last night"
            "wasn't me"
"you were the only one outside"
"i was outside, but i wasnt the only one"
"you will tell me who else"
"suddenly id like to leave your island"
"that is no longer possible at this time"
            "BULLSHIT mr han-man.
            guards enter
man, you come right out of a comic book"
            big fight scene

"kung Fu" with David carradine. Both the film and the series. Luckily I knew nothing of martial arts technique, so I could watch it and be impressed.

I bet he looks like a right twat to the trained eye, Grass-hopper.....

I've not seen the episodes of the Green Hornet/Batman crossover, but I read in a book that Bruce wanted to beat the sh*t out of Burt Ward (Robin). Apparently, Burt Ward was going around telling everyone he was a black belt in Karate etc. Probably just to try and impress the ladies at the time!
