I watched two fights tonight that validated two concepts/techniques that I really like:

In the first fight, one fighter used the elbow insertion to great effect. Many times when his opponent stepped in to clinch or punch, he would insert the elbow, crash into the guys face or chest, and follow up with a good knee shot to the midsection or right elbow to the head.

In the second fight, one fighter seemed to be attempting to use his elbows to pummel his opponents forearms and fists in a sort of "defang the snake" manuever. It seemed to work because his opponent eventually started to drop his guard, which he then followed up with a kick to the neck which dropped the guy. I've watched a lot of MT fights, but I don't recall anyone attacking the gaurd in that manner.

Anyway, Elbow insertion and useing the elbows to hit incoming strikes (which I pull from FMA).

a lot of the guys ive seen where i train use the elbows as spikes - eg from a high thai guard, if someone steps in or is lookin to come in, they'll simply use a downward elbow from this position, which reverts back into the normal guard if needed.

\The thing about hitting the forearms etc, is that yo don't score points from it, and generally a lot of fights go the distance so you need a strong scorecard.

Yea I know, that's why I mentioned it. It was out of the ordinary compared to what you usually see.

Yes, I like that as well.
