I watched two fights tonight that validated two concepts/techniques that I really like:
In the first fight, one fighter used the elbow insertion to great effect. Many times when his opponent stepped in to clinch or punch, he would insert the elbow, crash into the guys face or chest, and follow up with a good knee shot to the midsection or right elbow to the head.
In the second fight, one fighter seemed to be attempting to use his elbows to pummel his opponents forearms and fists in a sort of "defang the snake" manuever. It seemed to work because his opponent eventually started to drop his guard, which he then followed up with a kick to the neck which dropped the guy. I've watched a lot of MT fights, but I don't recall anyone attacking the gaurd in that manner.
Anyway, Elbow insertion and useing the elbows to hit incoming strikes (which I pull from FMA).
