          Not a Fight Camp

Strictly speaking, the Pacific Northwest Muay Thai Camp is not a 'fight camp', although we have had increasing numbers of people who claim to be fighters attend every year. And traditionally we have had about a 50% attrition from that group from first through last day. Normally this is from ankle injuries during the pblum in the field and through bruises occurring between inexperienced students who do not understand how to go easy. And conversely, the better conditioned these people are the more time it takes to get them tired enough to learn. Some years it has taken 3 days to get them physically 'relaxed'. Last year we had numerous injuries due to the terrain of Camp Wilkerson, but this year we are back to Silver Falls, which has paved running and training areas, plus a level area for the fighter group. As far as who is coming, everyone should know this is an invitation only camp, and Master Chai has already invited most of the attendees. If you do not know by now, you are probably not coming, exceptions being those of us who staff the camp and provide the students who do the heavy work. This is reputed to be the best camp in the world, and this year more than 300 applicants have been denied. Preference is always given to those who have been to camp before, although as I said earlier, Master chai's word is final. And as usual the number one requirement is 'respect', both for yourself and for the other attendees. Thanks, and I hope to see all my old friends on the 20th of July.

Cool that they got back the Silver Falls site. It seems, though, that in the 'field of screams' can wear out a pair of cross trainers in a week. Best to take two pair of cross trainers.
