There's a heavy rope made of thick surgical tubing, stuffed with sand. Its just as challenging, except it hurts you less on impact vs. a chain. Be careful.
Sounds effective ...
I thought id start this thread because im after other strength building methods apart from pumping iron ...

Tom, any idea where to get this surgical tube rope? Or is this something that you made yourself?Originally posted by Tom Yum

Ando/sk128 - The first time I saw the 'heavy rope' was in high school athletics. We used it as a set with pullups, pushups, bar dips, fireman carry, wheelbarrow drills etc.
It was 2-3" thick black surgical tubing with white handles. I was pleasantly suprised to see them at the gym as well. I'll ask about it; in the mean time I'll look for a pic.
Here is a link. Don't know if this is the best price - i would shop around.

That's nothing. I jump rope under water in a shark tank with a rope made from 100% human blood. It's quite an intense workout.Originally posted by Tom Yum
ha!... how about a rope made of bacon while viscious, hungry dogs chase you.
Also, thanks for the link to the heavy rope.

I just ordered a 4 lb rope (they have from 1 to 6 lbs) for $46.99 after shipping from Strength Systems. I'm anxiously awaiting it's arrival and my first workout with it.
