  • Was it a Pit Bull or what !? I was still scared!!

Okay I was just about to go home, well I had my friends out by my door, and it was around 10 p.m. and we were pretty loud. We left after and went to a convenient store. After I got back I enter my apartment, open the door to my floor, then notice a dog roaming around IN THERE OUT OF NO WHERE. There was actually 2 doors, the dog was right between in there. I was just there, I was like WTF ? It was coming up to me, looked like it was about to attack me but, I feel like a little sissy now, the dog wasn't even barknig or anything. I just slammed the door and went through the other way, Even though if it wasn't going to attack me, better safe than sorry, ya know. I had no clue what kind of dog it was, but it kinda look like a pit bull.

I am just asking, what the hell can a small 14 year old boy without any *real* martial arts training can do. The last time I got attacked by a dog was long time ago, about 6-8 years ? Back in the Philippines, dog chased me (I tried to run inside but then my aunt accidentally crushed my head on the sliding door because she was also nervous as she tried to keep me away and the dog was like 1 metre away from me lol), felt sorry for the dog because after a few days my dad shot in right in the head due to all the problems it has given around the neighbourhood. (but what can I do, weird stuff happens in a country like that) I had no clue what kind of dog it was.

So again, can I ask about your personal experiences on animal attacks ? Also do you think if you trained in Muay Thai or Boxing, doing a low kick on the dog's wherever weak area I am guessing side or just a simple kick right no its nose.

BTW I also tried a search on this and didn't find much, except killing or running away, and you really think a 14 year old kid can do that, well not me...

Dogs have these teeth called canines (we have 'em too, but they are quite small compared to a dog's) and they can inflict quite a bit of damage to someone. Unless you have a weapon of some sort and the strength to use it effectively your best bet is to go the other way. Nothing to feel ashamed about.

go for the eyes, and throat.

Kicks work pretty well. But you can throw a hook to a dogs head and do quite a bit of damage.

At 14 better to try to get away or find a weapon, but as a last resort kick the dog as hard as you can in the head. It may decide to leave.

HIT IT WITH A STICK!!! OR IF THE DOG TAKES A BITE AND HAS A HOLD OF YOU. HIT IT ON THE NOSE OR JAM YOUR FINGER IN ITS EYE.

OR IF YOU HAVE THE STICK, TRY TO PLAY FETCH...lol!!! BTW HOW IS YOUR HEAD?

I had one beginning Muay Thai student (also a category 2 semi-pro bicycle racer) that got attacked by a full grown doberman while walking home from work. When the dog leaped at him he launched a Thai kick for his neck. The kick hit the dog diagonally across the neck and killed it instantly. I told him that he got very very lucky and not to count on winning the lottery twice in a row anytime soon. He agreed.

Generally, a large dog like a doberman, rottwiler or a pitbull will win over a human almost every time. A pitbull has something like 2000 psi in its bite. That exceeds the stress modulus of any bone in your body by more than 1000 psi.

not to mention dogs have high pain thresholds

iv heard accound of people knocking pitbulls in the head with baseball bats....didn't even phase it.

some attacks can be prevented, the most dangerous situation is when there is more then one dog. ( i think its more common as well lol)

unless your really close to an area where you can escape (door, fence...) you shouldn't run.....the dog will catch up lol.

it shouldn't be to hard to find some pointers on the "what if" you meet an agressive dog.

Just like bears, there are right, and wrong things to do.

Yeah, better safe than sorry. But the dog probably wasn't even ****ing with you. Could have been a bull dog, boxer, poddle....

I don't think your dad should have shot the dog. I mean he wouldn't like it if someone shot him.

In the Philippines, that country (or some towns) are different than here in Canada. When we moved here we are a lot more 'caring' for the animals/pets then before. Man, but he nailed that dog right on his head though... We ate it after

You can't blame me, I grew up there, and I was around 5 years old so I took the offer, didn't know any better. Lots of asian cultures still eat dogs though, like Korea and Japan I think

Well, by shooting the dog your dad did a favour to the doggy race.

Dogs most succesfull survival "tactic" is making humans care for them.....if they piss us off we aint gunna do that any more...get rid of the dogs that carry those harmfull traites and eventually you'll get cute little fuzzy wuzzy pets, that we walk, feed, give medical care to, and treat better then our children.

not to mention you got a free meal....finger licken good.
