  • Injury Question

Hello, new member here. I have been surfing this site and many others for quite some time. I never post but since I train in MT and since this is an MT site I couldn't resist anymore.

Anyways, my question is, two weeks ago I injured my left ribcage in what appears to be a separated rib(cartiliage damage) from a hard front kick. I let it rest for almost a week and decided to try and train on it and got teep'd pretty hard on the same spot and now I am back to square one.

No one I train with has injured themselves this way (usually their pain goes away completely in less than a week) and I have never gotten injured like this before. How long should I expect to be out? Anybody have any experience with this type of injury? Everything I come across says 4-6 weeks but I find that hard to believe......

you have an internal injury, go to the doctor, you could pierce an orgran and die.

Is the damage to the outer side of the rib cage or the inner (solor plexus) area?

If it's the inner then all i can say is that i got knee'd in the centre of my chest while competing in thai and that still clicks now & then when i do arm crossover then swingout like crucifix stretch's but i never get any pain (happened in my second fight in 1996).

It is just below my left pectoral muscle below the nipple. I have the same popping and rib movement that I can feel. How long did that injury take to heal?

The pain actually cleared quite quickly but if you have any pain when breathing or when your lungs reach maximum capacity i'd get it x-rayed or checked out, better still get it checked anyway & post your results here for us.

(any info for future reference helps).
