Vunak deserves praise for his achievements in self-defense. He's put his stuff to work on the streets.

The claim that Defendo derives from Fairburn/Applegate/Sykes type material is widely regarded as bogus.

Fairburn did devise an art for the Shanghai Police called Defendu (note the difference in spelling), and did then go on to help devise the fighting systems taught to elite military units etc.

But Defendo is not being honest in claiming a lineage from it.

As an aside, just how many knife weilding thugs make one thrustin movement and then leave their hands out for a second? Looking at Defendo, an awful lot......
