No, it's just a sport mate. Grappling automatically results in a sudden lava flow which burns grapplers but strikers are immune to because of their fleeting footwork, except Okinawan Kempoka who try to use Sanchin and get burned feet right. I know, me mate Bob told me.

Judo would work pretty well on the street it seems. Some of those throws are pretty brutal, on the street they'd do some damage for sure. Add in Judo's joint locks and chokes and it would seem you've got a pretty complete system (minus the strikes). Throw them then stomp them down, or choke them out... (if the throw itself doesn't already put them out of commission)

Sheeeesh...
Here we go again..............Originally posted by crabb manis judo any good in the street or is it just for sport.

You ever see crash pads on the sidewalk? Mats on the asphalt? Padded bumpers on cars? Judo is just a gentle way to learn Jujutsu techniques. The throws, strikes (atemi) and grappling techniques work anywhere if you know how to use them...

Could be crabman....
Did you even attempt to use the search function before you asked?
Here's a question for you...Are guns good for SD or just shooting paper targets?
It's rhetorical... No need to respond. Get the idea?
My sarcastic reply was intended to help you. Judo is big fun with a good Uke and nice soft mats all around. My point was that gravity assisted impact with terrain is enhanced in the urban environment.
"Judo" is deadly on the streets. But don't take MY word on it...

Hajime no ippo is the shyt!!!Originally posted by Warrior189I dont get why people think a art wont be effective in the streets, because its also a sport? Boxing n muay thai are both martial arts n a sport n I've seen them to be very effective in the streets.
