most police encounters end up on the ground because it is the officers goal to subdue and cuff the perp not too much different from the grapplers goal to either pin or winn by submission.

Your misinterpreting him.... sheesh...

He's saying that these fights are ending up on the ground, not because the officers want them too, but because the officer has to hand cuff and control the person, not just shoot them/beat them down.

Dont know what the grappling statement had to do with it, but if anything it was an Anti-grappling statement, as it is the same as the option the police would rather NOT take, as it puts them in more danger.

boarspear; where did i say that anyone should try to grapple with an armed opponent???? reread my post..someone in a previous post mentioned that most Police encounters end up on the ground....because the police have to restrain the perp. i have a question for you what would you consider a disarm to be??? is that somthing between grappling and striking? or something all together different. please dont add words i did not say.
