Research has shown that women who fight back against an attacker/rapist are found to have mentally and emotionally recovered from the incident much faster than those who "give in".

I think this suggests that by giving in, and surviving, victims have to live with the stress of wondering if they could have fought back and got away or at least done all they could to stop the attack from happening.

Additionally, for a women to be on the receiving on of a brutal assault or rape, they are going to fear death and indeed a lot of victims of the most brutal attacks do not survive and are murdered as an end result. With this being a possibility, why give up? Your life is worth more than that I would have thought.

That being the case, I support women learning self defence and I am all for them fighting back against attackers.

Exactly. Why give up? In any life threatening situation.

If a woman is caught in a rip tide should she just stop trying and let herself drown?

I guess some people don't value a woman's life as much.

        Great post WW.

Very informative post, WildWest, as usual. I remember hearing if a woman were to surrender to an assailant instead of fighting back, her chances of getting killed would be much higher. Especially if she goes with him to a secluded location.

Why would you post what the inside of your head sounds like.

Why would anyone of any age, race, or gender, not fight back knowing the potential for death?

Who would want to just be killed or worse rapped and left to live?

Do you honestly think being raped and left to live is worse than being killed?

I stated my opinion, did you have trouble with the sentence structure?

I'm sorry, I know many people, men and women, who were victims of rape. They survived. They lived through it and moved on as best as they could and continued to live beautiful lives. These include close personal friends and family members who have made my life much better for knowing them.

Honestly, I was having fun at your expense. I'm going to stop the 3rd grade level diatribe now because after reading your previous post (and viewing your youtube training video), I think I know how delusional you really are. It's not funny anymore.

I think I read that in Geoff Thompson's book Dead or Alive. I think if the assailant has already planned to kill the victim regardless then giving in or fighting back won't make much difference to the assailants intended outcome.

That being the case, fight back anyway because it may save your life.

I know which option I'd take.

i heard that most rapist prefer a girl who struggles because they feel more dominate and powerful, something along those lines....

anyway, Tokyo are you against women learning a SD, because they want to? because they themselves like martial arts? to get in shape? everyone has the right to defend them self and to learn how to defend themselves.

there are after all a number of cases where the women has been able to deck her assailant and get away. if you ask my opinion its a matter of surprise that can give them the vital seconds they need.
