    "satanic cult"?
must be some sort of local "weekend, let's kill cats in a graveyard" bullshit.

Anton Le'Vey's COS and the TOS aren't into that shit, it's mainly just a satire of organized religion.

The only real "satanist" that was around "recently" and practicing was shithead Aliester Crowley...and he was back in the Victorian ages, and into a bunch of other occultish bullshit, namely some of the stuff you see popping up in modern conspiracy theories...like the Illuminati, Rosecrucians, and the Knights Templar (fan fact...he was also into yoga.)

        Interesting.

I would think any martial art that was developed for fighting was a "street style" in their introduction era

You're the one that brought it up in the first place, I think it's pretty telling that now that you're being questioned by someone who knows something about it you want to change the subject

I presume most of you live in the USA. I still don't understand the obsession with carrying concealed weapons. I'm not judging you guys or your country, but surely there are plenty of safe places to live there. It's a big country!! Why live your life worrying that someone is going to kill you?

Anyway, that's all I'm saying on the subject as I am here to discuss MA's.

One of my first acts of self defense involved learning to shoot pistols, rifles and shotguns. I have been playing with knives since I was a cub scout but if you live up in bear country it's a good idea to have a suitable weapon for bears. Knives are excellent tools and handy weapons if you can DEPLOY it, use it and justify it later...

Martial arts, eh? Like real "artists" would never need a weapon, right? LOL

              Take care, stay safe...

Your icon is hilarious, Lu. Agreed.

Nightstalker, there are very few young impressionable women on here...jsyk.

Secondly, most women here on the board don't fall for the empathy thing, unlike other message boards...

                          Well-there are places, surburban.

I work in what is termed "Corporate Amercia". This is where many live outside of a metropolitan city and commute in for business. In the areas we reside-it is peaceful-non violent. However, in those cities, much violence. Especially when there is high activity like bars (pubs), sporting events, and criminal activity.

However, most of the population do not carry conceal weapons-you are mis-led.

Only a scant few of 200+ of my office co-workers actually carry a weapon. Those that do, only carry one if they happen to be in a area of intense violence or crime.

I have been doing a study on violent crime, assaults, and behavior and I must say, although Amercia is fascinated with the gun, there are many brutal acts of violence with knives, tools, and etc., in countries such as the UK, Germany, India, and even Canada, to name a few.

I want to learn bear Kung Fu.

Should I go in the woods and watch them closely?

Well, out of my group of aquaintances, all of them carry or have carried a weapon...(knives and guns) I seldom carry a weapon anymore though, nowadays I don't really go anywhere at night, and don't walk anywhere either (still a knife in my car though). You can never assume an assailant will be unarmed, I'd rather be armed and ready.

That said, it's more a deterrant than anything. Someone shady approaches you, you reach into your coat pocket, he's gonna know you're carrying something. He's definitely going to be thinking twice about attacking you... I've never actually pulled a knife out/shanked someone, never want to.

I'll warn you. Bear Kung Fu is not a complete system. It leaves you open for counter attacks.
