Hi,
I'm pretty new to the whole concept of Reality based combatives and self defense. But it seems like exactly what I'm looking for. I've been taking Hapkido for about 3 months now, and I don't want to bash the art, but I don't think it's really what I'm looking for. The techniques and kicks seem really hard to execute due to the fact that it takes many years to develop fine motor movements. What I'm looking for is something that will develop my body so i become fit as well as being an effective self-preservation system. It's just that I'm afraid that the civilian combatives systems pay more attention to effectively ending the conflict by using eye gouges and stuff, which is great, but i'm not sure how they would do in making one a powerful striker and developing the body to be a fighter.
I was thinking maybe MMA training in Muy Thai, Boxing, and Submissions. Would cover bot bases for me, but I hear they lack certain aspects of defense one would need on the street.
Just looking for opinions and ideas from the many ppl on this forum who've had much more training and experience to give me some feedback.
Currently I'm in Sacramento if anyone knows a good place for what I'm looking for that would be great also. I've herd of conflict management systems.
