  • Female Fighters

Here in the past year or so, you are finding more and more female fights. I have seen a few of them, and I usually go with the guys to see them. At first they are all " women fighting, this is outragious," but after seeing the fights they are pleasently surprised. Have many of you gals fought NHB-MMA fights? I know of a few of us women out there fighting, but do you guys have somewhere that I can find out more info on all women fight cards? What is yopur opinion on this sensitive subject?

Women can be great fighters. We have a young woman taking the UK by storm at the moment. Her training regime is incredible, and involves being blind folded and taken out into the garden by mummy. She then risks all kinds of dangers (loose tufts of grass, butterflies and cat poo poo) by wandering around like a blind bat.

Her ring name is Little Demon, and she's a killer!

Female fighters - Some of the best competitors. I haven't seen any female NHB fights, though I like a good female boxing match. They seem to want to beat the hell out of their opponent more than some of the male boxers.

      Where are you fighting at?

I went to the first all female fight card in the US a year or so ago. Let me tell you that there are some women out there that some guys said that they don't want to go up against. This was a show that started here locally, but has spread. You might have heard of it, HOOKnSHOOT. They have a DVD that has thaose fights on it. It's called HOOKnSHOOT Revolution.

        The fighters are
        Ruth Mejia vs. Erica Montoya
        Olga Bakalopoulas vs. Shannon Hooper
        Jennifer Irons vs. Jessica Ross
        Tanya Vlahac vs. Angela Wilson
Shelby Walker vs. Tara La Rosa
        Angela Restad vs. Mayra Conde
Debi Purcell vs. Chris Van Fleet

Every once and awhile they will have a single womens match on their normal fight cards. I tell you girl that is just down right awesome is Judy Neff. She comes in with her fists a flying the after she knocks you on your keester she submits you.

I do not train on a regular basis anymore. I have sustained an injurey that has basically put me out of ever competing. At least not for a good while. I am located in Owensboro, KY but there aren't any schools here.

I got started by a guy that I met at a party that I was throwing. I happen to have a Grappling magazine laying around and he saw it, and asked if I did JJ. It happened that he was a Blue Belt under Rickson. He had trained in Louisville, KY (one of Rickson's schools) but had moved here. He trained me for about a year. I have also been to several senimars. My husband is also into BJJ, and MMA. He now trains five days a week in Evansville, IN. All together I have been fighting now for around six years. I get a lot of my training now through my hubby, we roll alot. I also go down to Atlanta, and train with someone there. If you want I can go into further details, but my hand is cramping, and my head is hurting for having to think.

Cool, I've been out there a few times with a buddy to visit his family. I hear there are fights in Louisville on Bardstown Rd, have you been out there or somewhere else in Ky to fight? I've heard of the Hook-n-Shoot but never seen the matches.
Your husband trains in Evanville? Thats a drive isn't it!

If you know of any fights coming up locally let me know, please.

There are fights in Paducah, one coming up in Madisonville.

Yup it is quite a drive. A little over an hour each way. But the school is great, and he is doing great. He loves it, and I love him being as happy as he is when he gets home from class. We rarely get to see each other, but it is worth the one day a week that we do have.
