Like I think I said earlier, I think these light nerve strikes where her end all be all. Although she did have some other MA training so she'd probably use the usuial stuff when her "light nerve strikes" didn't work.
The difference between WSD and general SD is what's left out of the WSD system. Although it all depends upon which system you're practicing. Actually, WSD was the first thing that I was exposed to and I liked it because it catered to my own personal limitations, i.e.,.. a bumb left hand and not very much physical power. Personally, assuming that you can make a solid fist with both hands, I think that you're better off saying right where you are.
Anyway, my kempo classes were so frustrating because so many of our drills included punches that would have been suicide for me if I had ever tried them on the street. I'd have shattered my hand. I'd learned through years of playing tennis that piss poor practice causes piss poor match play. In keeping with that philosophy, I reached the conclusion that practicing kempo was just piss poor practice givin my own set of circumstances. Damn, I wish we had a ju jitsu school in this aria!
WSD is more focused though. I don't think that I would have ever really understood the full importance of eye and throat strikes had I studied anything else. WSD gave me a confidence that I could never have gotten otherwise. But that just me, given what little else I have to work with.
Hope this helps,
