  • Hello & Questions

    Hello,

I only recently started boxing lessons. I haven't sparred with anyone yet.
I was wondering if anyone knew where I could get tv footage of female boxing fights? I have cable tv and there are usually fight nights on Friday and Sunday but I am a lil' interested in seeing females fight.

I'm also wondering how I can improve my coordination with my legs. I think I'm paying too much attention to what I'm doing with my feet and I don't want that to become a habit.

      T Bunnny,

You can get video of fights on the internet and some on eBay. Look for Christy Martin and Lala Ali, their two of the best in women's. And personnally, Unless its some big names in boxing I prefer to watch the ladies. They seem to put more heart into their fight and go all out.

        Hello TB,

Most of the regulars around here are on during the day, and also welcome to the forum and all that.

ESPN2 has Friday night fights on in the evenings. It's mostly mens boxing, but sometimes women also - even though your kickboxing, western boxers are great to watch for footwork and whatnot. Other than that, You might try the internet - if you use KaZaa or other file sharing you can get a lot of UFC's and stuff but be aware that if you type 'women' and '*just about anything*' into a file sharing search, you'll get some interesting results along with legit. video.

As for overthinking it, there isn't much to do except keep training. As you relax into the thing, it'll become more natural.

          Sweet! I coaxed a reply.

Thanks for the suggestions. I recently purchased a film called Shadow Boxers and have been looking for some quality female fighters. (I had problems searching before due to the fact that women+boxing results in a lot of porn. Which is nice but not really helpful.)

            Bunny,

I know boxers jump with skipping ropes to improve their footwork, and to help them to stay light on their feet when in the ring.

This fact seemes little strange, why searching women's boxing or women's martial arts we can find a lot of porn. I had some problems of this sort. How it can be explained? Why they relate women's fighting with this?

                Try checking out www.wban.com
It is specific to women's boxing. There is also www.fightnews.com
Scroll down a bit and on the left hand side of the sceen there is a women's boxing block that you can click.
To check out kickboxing, check out www.womenkickboxing.com
If you're into women's MMA, check out Debi Purcel's site www.fightergirls.net
As far as footwork, jumping rope will help give you some "bounce." So will jumping on a tire or just shadowboxing in a ring. Footwork will be something that you will always have to drill.

Well, If you type "Pokemon" into a search engine you get tons of pornography links. Of course Pokemon means pocket monster so that makes sense.

I'm not suprised I get pornography links when searching for women's boxing. I mean women + box. Plus there are people who have wrestling fetishes and I'm sure that carries over as well.

With all the things that exist in this world, someone, somewhere, has a fetish for it.

                        Hello Thunder Bunny

I am new to womens kick boxing (muay thai) I hope I spelled it right.
I am also waiting for some hellos I originally signed into the introduce your self page a few days ago. But I am sure someone will soon!!
I have been taking classes for about 8 months and love it. Although I am sort of incordinated it takes me longer to catch on to things. We are supposed to doing sparring soon. We do blocks etc but right now the punches and kicks are set up so I know whats coming. I actually got hit a few times during blocking because I was scared and wasn't doing it right. I have caught on well now and can block the punches without being afraid of them.
My foot work and punches are coming along nicely is alright but my round house kicks arent great.I really want to get the thwack sound off of the bag or pad. Sorry for rambling hope I hope I can exchange info thoughts and ideas with you and the other women and men on this sight.

If you have satellite, check your provider's website for pay-per-view. There's usually a lot of boxing selections. If not, check your local TV Guide's website.
