Fine. I'll switch avatars. I just thought a little change would be good since I've used most of the Marvel Characters.

Those sick and twisted comments are merely bad attempts at humor...geez, loosen up guy.

Hey man, once you get into the army, you'll come back with a whole new vocabulary...lol

Shotgun. Then you don't need to aim a whole hell of alot. Place it by the easy chair or the bed.

          Got to love the shotgun

hey, if somebody breaks in and they live through it, it will be really easy to pick them out of a line up.

I've got a 12 gauge next to my bed.

                If you believe statistics...

If you happen to believe statistics posted by governmental agencies, most 'intruders' shot in the home in self-defense are children or husbands or boyfriends or wives...you get the picture.

                  Cannot cite specific govt sources

Oops, exposed my pro-gun bias. Personally think the most important thing about having a gun in the house is going to a legitimate (use your own definition) class in how to use it, as well as how to legally use it. It also helps if you have access to an 'expert witness' who is recognized by legal authorities and can testify in your behalf. I have a shotgun close to my bed, as well as 3 swords, 5 throwing knives, a baton and a slew of regular knives. 'Course, I live in a very small apartment and have no other place to put them. Cheers

I guess, in order to maintain some kind of verisimilitude here, I should now admit I just searched my whole place for some shotgun shells and couldn't find them.

Just poking fun at myself a little. Seriously, I have heard over and over, and read many times and seen many 'spots' on television about the danger of having handguns around the house. I was raised in a house with guns, and have owned at least one all my life. I do believe training is essential, and should be from a qualified/recognized instructor or school that is willing and capable of providing expert witnesses in your defense because, sad as it may be, if you shoot someone even in self-defense you will be the one on trial. I also like to feel my home is my sanctuary, but do not want to live in a bunker.

H2H, how do you manage to start arguements with people who are well known and greatly respected by many. Chalambok, is a well known martial artists, whereas you are a 16 year old kid.

I think you need to chill a bit.

lol...this is inane. Isn't the idea here not to attack each other, but to provide opinions so people can make up their own minds? Democracy, in other words. Research for yourself H2H, I am too busy teaching handgun techniques and tactics to argue. I have actually been in over 20 gunfights and uncounted ambushes (both sides) and survived to question what I have been taught, and modify them with a jaundiced eye. You are doing just fine, but your Socratic methods need work. Nowhere here have I seen anyone talking about the legal aftermath of shootings; such as, are you prepared to give life-saving care to someone who has just tried to kill you, or are you going to watch them bleed to death all over your carpet? In every case I have heard of, once they are shot you better do your best to keep them alive or self-defense can quickly change to negligent homicide. Have you reached inside someone's chest to grab and pinch off an artery? Can you? Have you ever dealt with the warm, cloying smell of intestines and blood? This is all real stuff, and must be taken into account. Have you looked in your phone book to see where you can go for post-traumatic counselling? Is that covered by your home owner's or apartment rental insurance? I am just trying to point out the true costs of armed confrontation.

You are wrong H2H, once the threat is elimiated, it is your job to try and save the person. If not it can be ruled negligence and out can lose everything you own.

The family of the person can sue for wrongful death, (what OJ was sued for and lost) and it cost some major dollars. If they can make a case that you did not do everything to try and save the persons life you could be guilty of a crime and be sued.

You knowledge of the law is quite limited it would appear.

nah, I don't look like Shiva, I just don't have any room. My living room/kitchen has an exercise bike, a nordictrac machine, 2 heavy bags, spears, staffs & swords, my old bass amp, stereo, weights, television, books. You get the picture, I am a collector...lol My storage room is full of Thai boxing equipment, all I have left is the space next to my bed. Pitiful...
