    Hi,

I usually like to limit mine at 16. 2-3 hours seems to be a good time frame.

      It Depends

This basically depends on a number of factors. For example, how comfortable are you with the group size? Can you personally handle more than 15 or do you feel you need help at that point? Is the course based on simple skills that most participants will be able to grasp easily or are the skills more complex which may require more personal attention with each participant? Will you be including any type of simulations training or practice on a padded assailant? All of these things should be considered when deciding the maximum number of participants.

My program is pretty basic and the skills are easily learned and retained by even the most uncoordinated individuals. Which means I can cover more material in less time and and the students generally do not require extensive corrections. I also conclude the seminar with padded assailant drills. Based on this fact alone I do not want to take on more participants than I can physically handle in the given time period. Normally, I cap my seminar off at 20.

As for length of time, again that depends. How much material do you plan to cover? How much time will they need to practice the skills in order to be able to retain them? How physical will the seminar be? How much lecture will the seminar include. Basically, the easier the material is to remember the more you can include. The harder the material is to remember the less you can include. The more you lecturing you do the quicker the students get tired and bored. The more active the seminar the more the students become mentally angaged. However, too much physical activity obviously can wear the students out quickly. It needs to be an equal combination of lecture, mental activities, and physical activities.

Normally I conduct my women's program in a 3 hour period. But that's based on simple skills, and an equal combination of lecture, mental activities, and physical training. Followed by padded assailant drills.

      Hope this helps.

i usually limit to 10 students, and the time frame should 45mins , i just think that students can focuse on one thing for 45mins, if longer, should not be effective

Depends on the size of the gym and the acoustics. I see no reason why a seminar cannot go all day with a lunch break in mid day.
