I just watched the news tonight where Jeff Gianola, our fantabulous anchorman here in Portland ****ing Oregon and Vancouver Not BC, Washington Not DC announced a story on pole dancing for fitness. The quote of one woman struck a nerve in me; she said, "You just feel like a woman!"

Okay. If I want to feel slutty (but in a good way), I might get a pole and learn to dance for the old man. And I don't necessarily have a problem with it.

What bothers me is the way she put it and the message it sent to ... my daughter (who was watching at the time) and other people (not just girls) watching. A woman is equated with slithering on a pole? Is this why men are so disappointed to find out that women age and sag and nag just like they do?

What about guys? Do they get to slither on the pole too? Will it make them feel like a woman? gay man? Chippendale's dude slut?

Don't get me wrong, I have my fair share of ... tantalizing acoutrements ... but they don't make me feel like a *woman* per se.

What does being a woman mean to you ladies?

I live in Portland too, I must have missed that story. It seems somewhat odd to promote this sort of thing, especialy at a time when women's rights and gender equality is being ridiculously overstated (not women's rights perhaps, equality definatly however, because men and women simply are not the same) and this sort of thing realy falls on one side of the whole gender issue. But hey, if my girlfriend wants to get into pole dancing because fox news told her too, I got no problem with it.
