    Training While Pregnant By lenatoi - Sat, 17 Mar 2007 14:51:11 GMT

    =========

    This is my first pregnancy, and I was just wondering what everyone thinks about training while pregnant. I have known a lot of women who quit all together, but that doesn't seem quite right. What do you think?

    Only you and your doctor can decide this.

    If the pregnancy goes smoothly, I don't see a problem to keep working out, but with limitations. Of course full contact sparring is out of the question as well as jarring moves. how well crunches and sit ups work, again, your doctor will advice you on this.

    In general working out while pregnant makes for a smoother delivery.

          being that I plan to become an OB/GYN I'd say take it easy. It's good for pregnant women to stay active and fit but within a reasonable limit. As for training I'd depend on the manner of training, and the degree in which you're doing it. For instance, with a child on board I wouldn't recomend any jumping manuvers (IE Jump kicks or jumping jacks, jumping jacks are actually used in some cases to stimulate labor so yeah >.>) or anything that requires major twisting. But yeah, I'm not certified yet and don't have a degree yet, sooo I'm just giving you my thoughts.

            As someone who has been pregnant I would advise against it.

            Gentle exercise if great, being fit and strong will help with labour, but I wouldn't want to risk it personally.

            You'll find as you get bigger anyway, that you won't physically be able to. H*ll, getting up off the floor towards the end is a mission!

              I'm 14 weeks pregnant, and still teaching grappling but not training any more.

              Karate, I'm still training in.
