I would stop to play in the rain! My mother used to hate it when I would play in the rain as a child, and I was always angry that she wouldn't let me (of course, I realize now what a mess I would have made and probably didn't clean up on my own). So now during storms I go out and play in them, but at least I clean up after myself now.

    ---

What would you do if you just brought a brand new sportscar (not even a "new used" car, but a NEW car). The first place you drove it after buying it was to a grocery store because you needed to get some milk on your way home. You parked in the back, away from the other cars, because you didn't want it to get dinged. When you come out of the store, you find that someone parked directly infront of you, despite all the closer open parking spots, and while you were inside they smashed the entire front of your car in?

I'd be pretty freaked out since I don't believe I am harboring any same-sex tendancies...

Then again, I guess I wouldn't wake her up or anything. I'd wait until she woke up to fill me in on what was going on.

I'd verbalize the complaint to clear the air, then continue training. If it happens again, accidentally knee to tha groin and tell them that you don't respect their "boundaries" either...lol.

I have been in a situation where a student fancied me (must be the first time a girl has shown interest in me!), but I couldn't reciprocate as I don't think instructor/student relationships are wise

I think it comes down to the individual and what their personalities are like. I know many instructors who date students, with mixed results. Just be aware that if it goes wrong it can make training awkward

Looking at my instructor and hie wife....and the cute photos of her, from 10 years ago...

well, you don't get a guarantee, ever. But it's not like school or college, where the relationship can have a profound negative impact on the parties involved...

The head instructor called for the guy "in charge of the facility" to take care of the problem so he could conduct his class in peace. So, the janitor (a short, tough-looking old guy with a USMC tattoo on his forearm) came out of his office, grabbed the biggest guy by the armpit and trotted him out to the parking lot while keeping up a constant chatter; "awright, buddy, thass enough outta ya, let's just leave these nice folks alone so I don't haveta call the cops on ya..."

I chided the instructor afterwards for not handling the problem himself and he explained; "They might have swung at me just 'cause I'm wearing a gi, but I knew they wouldn't try to fight an old man and I know Nick is tough enough to handle people like that..."

It would be better if you had a younger or smaller person to whip the first one though. If it happens, let us know. I'd find it amusing.

I had people come down from a rival school and they were up for a fight. I told them to wait afterwards and then kicked the cr*p out of them.
They used traditional martial arts (they were wing chunners) as they thought I would respond in kind. After I beat them they complained that I wasn't using wing chun and I told them that they had come down, threatened my students and wanted trouble, so they got it. It's probably not the route I should have taken, but there you go
