Would you use offensive moves in this situation? By Yew - 10-04-2008 11:34 AM

Ok,kind of odd for a guy to ask this but I feel women are taught better on how to curb money/belonging theft.
There seems to be some sort of prejudice towards both men and women who want to attack first or ask their martial art classmates how to use offensive techniques. And the reply would be "If he is a few steps away from you or isn't hitting you, just don't hit him" accompanied with a stare towards you as if you want to go out and look for trouble.
But let's say someone just took your purse. If he ran off very quickly or had a knife then the usual thing your instructor would say is you can't do anything. But if he came unarmed and after taking your purse, he's dumb enough to walk a few steps back while facing you to make sure you don't try anything, would you attack first to regain your money back?(after all everyone has a right toward own hard earned money)And what would be your favourite strike first technique?
