  • Criticised for not wearing a bra !?

If this is an old topic forgive me, but i have only browsed this forum for a few weeks. In my self defence class there is no official dress code. We are based on Jujitsu, i have trained for 4 months. We are not training on kicks and punches (yet). Still, last week i was criticised by my instructor (not in public). She said i was improperly dressed and that i was being rude to the others. She also said that there had been complaints since i started. Now i feel bad, and i am not sure if i want to come back. If any one was rude, it's her !

If you're flopping around or falling out it could be a serious distraction!

      LOL

Don't sweat the small stuff. I mean "issues"

Conform or find a new dojo? Simple, eh?

Glad to have you here! Welcome aboard!

You know...? Wearing the bra is no guarantee you won't be "exposed". It's bound to happen by accident if you grapple much or rely on gripping and pushing and pulling to throw your opponent. ...

One of my favorite tricks for self defense is to pull the shirt over his head to wrap up the arms and obscure vision and mobility while I pommel or kick the crap out of him... Think hockey or soccer brawl...

Ghost... Wrong shoulder rig for me...

                LOL @ you guys!

Try a sport's bra, Tina. I've been told by my female friends that they keep the girls in place.

                  1) what is the (un)official dress code?
                  2) when doing any athletic activity, especially one based in grappling where there is obviously going to be physical contact, it is simply good decorum and manners to wear under garments and maintain good hygeine.
                  3) If your instructor brought it up...you should have taken the opportunity to clear up the issue with her.
                  4) If you're being rude and others are complaining about you...either their all crazy, your instructor is making it up...or you've been doing something wrong and rubbing people the wrong way. I'm apt to go with the former explaination.
                  5) Don't go back...take some time to work on your attitude...and realize that training in martial arts generally means that you have to get along with others and maintain and uphold the rules and social order of the classroom, dojo, ring, etc. If these things are too difficult for you...go do some volunteer work and put your problems in perspective...and if you still feel like being a stairwell obstruction, go out and hit trees alone in the mountains like Mas Oyama.
