I'm not one for stating my beliefs on the internet, so you probably won't hear too much from me...I usually keep my mouth shut and let others debate and sometimes argue about things...but i found this site while looking around for info on the upcoming Royce-Hughes fight, and I was reading the many pages of postings about your thoughts on the fight (I skipped most of the spirited debate as to the origins of Judo, jiu-jitsu, etc. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, made me sleepy).
I'm an older martial artist...started my studies in the arts under Japanese Karate Master Teriyuki Okazaki when I was 11 in 1966. Since then I have acquired many belts (black included) in different styles, but as we all know, your belt only covers two inches of your ass..you have to take care of the rest.
I have had the privelige of training with many and varied teachers... from Danny Inosanto to Al Dacascos...to Chinese Kung Fu masters in little schools in San Franciscos Chinatown...to bad-ass flying kick Korean champions. Currently I am learning the ground game from as many Gracie's as I can get my hands on.
In my early days I competed in point tournament karate and then full-contact karate as that emeged in the mid-1970's (geez-am I that old?). I've been a cop and I've used my training in many real-life street encounters over the years, so I've had a chance to see what works for me.
Anyway...that's my background...as to the up coming fight, I have only one word to say about that.......ROYCE!!!!
