Just a quick hello to everyone on this forum. I have been involved in martial arts since 1989. I've been a member of a couple of forums in the past and find most to be a waste of time. I hope this one is different.

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. I'm having to waste my time to give you some kind of an answer to a silly (though I'm sure you think witty) reply. Talk about something worth talking about or log off.

welcome to the forum. if you are around long enough will find there are some very knowledgeable people around here. A search of the forum will yield lots of information by many successful fighters, instructors and school owners.
But as you have already seen, percieved attitude from new members doesn't get you very far.
Enjoy your stay.

Sorry if it seemed to be off to a bad start. I usually just call things like I see them. As far as background, I studied Wing Chun Kuen for seven years under Sifu Steve Cottrell from 1989 until 1996. I have trained first responders to augment their weapons based combat training with empty hand combat including, but not limited to retention techniques both for field and urban settings. Over the past couple of years I have kept a small "backyard" school of twenty somethings.
Other than MA my business partner and I make films through our company, Dog Pack Productions and Frost Brothers Entertainment.

I'd be real interested in hearing about that- Especially weapons retention. One of my original instructors was approached by some cops who wanted to work out retention strategies. It seems the 'official' strategy was something along the lines of: 'Go completely defensive and hope backup arrives before they get your gun'.
We didn't end up doing it, but not for lack of interest in the subject.
If you feel comfortable, maybe start a thread in the LEO/military forum and I'll post to it.

What up Slydog... just wanted to jump in here and give a quick plug for slydog and his partner. They (Dog Pack Productions) are the ones that do all our videos and they do a great job. Also Frost Brothers Entertainment does great work as well. Since they are both martial artist it makes it very easy to work with them and come up with some really cool fight scenes.
Stick around Slydog it is always interesting. Don't worry about Garland or jubaji they always have something to say.....and it usually makes me laugh when I read their post.
