  • Hello!

Hi all. My name is Master Adam Dean Huntley; you all can call me Adam. I've been all over the net as Adam or Fluffy, so if you have seen the screen name Fluffy - it was most probably me.

I'm a Taekwondo instructor, school owner and Martial Artist. I've been practicing TKD for over 25 years now and hold a 5th Dan with the Hwa-Rang Taekwondo Federation (HTF) and a 4th Degree BB with the American Taekwondo Association (ATA) and the International Taekwondo Council (ITC). I also study Largo Mano Escrima and Modern Arnis, but I'm still a beginner.

As a school owner I am also involved with the Martial Arts Industries Association (MAIA) and the National Association of Professional Martial Artists (NAPMA) but I conceder myself a novice (at best) in the business of the martial arts.

I'll leave you with this little gem I found in my inbox this morning:

    The Purpose of Fighting

The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense. The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.

    As John Steinbeck once said:

    1. Don't pick a fight with an old man. If he is too old to fight, he'll just kill you.

    2. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics ****.

    3. I carry a gun cause a cop is too heavy.

    4. When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.

    5. A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers. The reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was carrying and asked him "Why do you carry a 45?" The Ranger responded, "Because they don't make a 46."

    6. An armed man will kill an unarmed man with monotonous regularity.

    7. The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a lady commented on his wearing his sidearm. "Sheriff, I see you have your pistol. Are you expecting trouble?" "No Ma'am. If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my rifle."

    8. Beware the man who only has one gun. HE PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!!!

    But wait, there's more!

I was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house. I said I did. She said "Well I certainly hope it isn't loaded!" To which I said, of course it is loaded, can't work without bullets!" She then asked, "Are you that afraid of some one evil coming into your house?" My reply was, "No not at all. I am not afraid of the house catching fire either, but I have fire extinguishers around, and they are all loaded too." To which I'll add, having a gun in the house that isn't loaded is like having a car in the garage without gas in the tank.

I'm a firm believer of the 2nd Amendment!

    Have a great day everyone!

I'll invite him on, if he's not already. Though he's going in for that melanoma problem - he won't be in all that much over the next few weeks.

boy it's strange not using my regular screen name.

No, the ATA has moved on - I just don't have all that much in common with the "ATA martial arts" group. I wish you all the best - when I'm on there I just don't have much to talk about. I keep up with David L, John P and a few others on another forum and when I see them a couple times a year at a local ATA or HTF tourney. And I get to debate Master G whenever I see him or via Email.

I was part of the Administration for the WSKO forum for a while. But it seems that I'm one of the few who actually post anymore, and I wanted the group to go a different direction than the rest of the Admin/Mods so they won the direction debate and I asked to be removed as a mod - just a regular poster there now - and truthfully it's nice. I'm also with the brotherhood (see my sig) but they are happy being a small group, and that's fine, just kinda limited in the scope of what we talk about.

I like the size of this group, seems to have its stuff together - I look forward to posting!

It's great to see you again, and a Super Mod to boot....nice!

By the way Bolverk is a mod over on WSKO, and I'm glad to see it.

Have you decided what system to use yet? Are you still going to teach?

I invited Bolverk over so I'm sure he'll drop by when he has a chance, as I mentioned he's dealing with some health issues and has been kind of scarce as of late.

Sounds like fun, your training that is. I miss being able to chuck it all and just train, with a full time school it's not that easy. I wish I kept SnoTKD a part time endeavor, I had more fun.

Yea, I noticed some very young members. As a former Mod, what I read made my spidey senses tingle a bit. It is all a bit more loose than I'm used to, but that goes with the territory. I'll smile and move on when I must.

Anyone else I'd know on this forum? Were you on any of the ATA yahoo groups? Do you remember "Glen"? I heard he had his own forum now, do you know anything about that?

Cute but no, it's a title, goes with the rank 5th Dan in Hwa-Rang Taekwondo. But you can call me Adam.

Being only 34, I would rather go by my first name anyway. Still kinda young for that title if you ask me. My instructor Grand Master Jack Pierce (aka Crazy jack) is kind of a stickler when it comes to proper titles so I need to post the title or do a bunch of pushups.

Glen was a jerk, but he had a bunch of information - I enjoyed what he had to say, not how he said it. I'd love to find him, if only to read his posts.
