My Hyundai i40 is getting to the point where major engine work may be unavoidable, and I'm trying to decide between rebuilding the original engine or replacing it with a brand-new long engine. For anyone who's faced the same decision, which option made more sense financially and how reliable has the car been afterward? The G4NC 2.0 GDI seems to have some known age-related issues, so I'm especially interested in long-term experiences.

For your i40's G4NC engine, I'd go with a new long engine for better long-term reliability. I used https://enginezone.com.au/product/br...r-hyundai-i40/ and it fit perfectly with the 12-month warranty. The $4,200 price with free shipping made more sense than a rebuild.
