    dear fellow users,

in recents months ive started to practice jun fan/jkd (practioner) twice a week.
when i first started, i thought that JKD was the next best thing sliced bread.
But i've also started to practice Muay Thai, about a month ago, which i do once aweek.

Since i started to muay thai aswell, ive found myself becoming concerened about how effect and how practical Jun Fan/Jeet Kune Do is compared to muay thai.......and have started to wounder if i should continue to do JKD.

I know the thai boxers will say that their methodology is the best, and that the Jun Fan/jeet kune do practioners will say stick with theirs..

Im seeking a unbiased opinion to help guide me in the right direction of which one of these two fine arts to stick with.

    Any help anyone?

ok, I fight Thaiboxing, train Muay Thai (modern and ancient) and will carry on to learn all the crap Thailand has to offer.

personally speaking I cant really comment on JKD but i do know people who do this. They seem to like it loads.

What I would say is ask yourself what areas in JKD do you feel are weak in technique. Then simply take from Muay Thai what you feel is strong and add that to your JKD and then see how it feels.

Do you want to fight competitively? if so just concentrate on the easy things, you know "show me like I'm stupid" kind of techniques cos they are the ones that ultimately help win the fights.

Muay Thai is a sport and has certain parameters that it works in. Mainly striking and stand up grappling.
JKD supposedly has no parameters and could function in any range.
If you prefer Muay Thai for striking and stand up grappling over JKD, then concentrate on the other ranges like grappling when you do JKD. Even the streetfighting aspects of JKD are worth exploring. Dirty streetfighting like eye gouging, biting, hail pulls, spitting, screaming next to opponents ear (ouch!!!!), groin strikes, etc...are bread and butter for the JKD practitioner) If the JKD practitioner is clueless on grappling (Groundfighting), then look elsewhere to train in this range (BJJ, Wrestling, Judo, etc...)
Even in striking and trapping range, JKD has a lot to offer, but you must appreciate it, and it better work for you, or else forget it.
