  • Learning and memory

Nothing to do with martial arts in particular but I was wondering if there is anyways of learning anything quite quickly and easily or just easily. I have trouble learning things now for some reason when I didn't used to when I was younger. I want to improve my memory and my learning skills so I can learn martial arts and remember them quickly and easily and also learn other things such as programming. Any help is very much appreciated

Well it seems to me that there are many different types of intelligence and thinking, you need to find the ones that work best for you.

I remember maths and physics formulas using martial arts combinations (kinesthetic intelligence).

Double jab, double right punch, two hooks, back away from opponent, cross, cross, left mid level roundhouse kick

Thats the cosine rule I think.

    a^2 = b^2 + c^2 - 2bcCOSa

Also you could try turning information into a song (musical), arguing about the topic with someone (interpersonal), mind maps (visual/spacial)... seeing if you can explain it to someone else is also a good way to see if youve learned something.

One of the fastest ways to learning it to use as many senses as possible.
      Visual, kinestetic, auditory. etc.

repitition is the most basic way to remember something. Rote training (doing it over and over) leads to long term retention of the material. I forget the guy but someone used it to teach math to inner city kids and they made a movie out of it because they all became very skilled at math.

A trick the teach in college is if you want to make something easier to remember add emotional content. Such as making it funny, or dirty. It somehow makes your brain retain it better.

      good luck

It depends what you are trying to learn. As someone said, there are many different learning styles and intelligenses (not meaning high or low). What are you trying to learn and look around online for some learning style tests to determine what your learning style is then come back here and we'll give ya some tips. BTW.. the best way is to never cease learning. You should always be reading something or trying to learn something new that way your mind stays in shape.
