              Can I get an AMEN?

The right to keep and bear arms is primarily to resist oppressive government.

hunting, self defense, etc. is all just gravy.

Some say the second amendment is the primary protector of all the others.

Just to get back on track about how stupid the AWB was.

In the picture below the AR15 style carbine on the left is AWB legal while the carbine on right has a collapsable stock, flash suppressor and bayonet lug which restricts it to LEO/Military or rifles/carbines that were in existance before the ban was signed into law. In other words they were both legal to own during the ban, makes a lot of sense right?

Tell me how much more dangerous the carbine on the right is? I guess being shot by the politically correct AWB model will hurt your feelings a lot less...yeah right.

Let's not forget that the term "Assault Weapon" did not exist until the AWB was dreamed up by some well meaning idiots. There were true assault rifles which were select fire, meaning having the ability fire in full auto mode, and then there were semi-auto rifles which only fired one round per trigger pull. So in essense the anti-gunners wanted to try and confuse people by giving the impression that the semi-autos were just like the already regulated full-auto machine guns.

Seriously folks, if you want my guns then come and get them...MOΛΩN ΛABÉ!

Both of those guns are semi-auto! There is no difference in how they operate only the few cosmetic features I mentioned above make one AWB legal and one not.

If you we're joking you forgot to add the smiley...

As long as the law abiding citizens have the means to defend their lives and their freedoms then we'll be A-Okay!

As stated before, I think most defense scenarios do not require semi-automatic weapons and that most handguns are quite sufficient.

There are rare occasions, such as the LA riots, hostage crisis or terrorist threats where they would be helpfull.

The general population doesn't need access to this type of firepower. Yeah, they can be bought illegally; but their needs to be something to distinguish between those who live within the bounds of the law and the lunies.

How much investment goes into the proper handling and training of a semi-automatic weapon from a law abiding civillian? I guess that's an open ended question; I've never seen anyone at a firing range with that kind of firepower.
