My thoughts exactly
Originally posted by treelizardWhy don't you just pick up women at, say, a bar, and go to a martial arts gym in order to train? Just a thought./my bp is going up now, here's some places to avoid hooking up> school, work,ma schools ect. unless you want drama.there will be plenty if drama/games to go around when seeing a chick so why add more to it.

My BJJ class is based in a studio inside a health club. The studio next door has karate classes, and has lots of attractive ladies. Perhaps BJJ is too intimate as a martial art for many. Perhaps learning to triangle a stranger looks too intimidating a position for a lady?
BTW, I don't want to get into the debate as to whether karate is practical or not, I'll keep my (biased) opinions to myself ;-)

Actually... the guy who said Krav Maga has alot of chicks.. now that I think about it.... there were alot more girls at Krav Maga then there are at bjj/kickboxing/boxing/wrestling combined... hmmm....
now this isnt meant to be sexist.. just an observation...
maybe its because in Krav Maga they wanted you to fight/spar... but you didnt really have too... in boxing/kickboxing/jiu jitsu/wrestling they kinda think your wasting your time and get annoyed if you dont spar...

Krav Maga
They just opened up a Krav Maga school in the same place as the Ralph Gracie academy here in Berkeley; I think I'm going to go check it out first. I am also considering the Fairtex academy in San Francisco... eventually I want to train at both with schedule/time permitting...

I changed my tune on this. I *still* think it's frustrating and distracting when men in martial arts classes are more interested in picking up chicks than in training like they're supposed to be doing.
But I also think that all single guys should go to as many watered down martial arts classes, cardio kickboxing classes, gymnastics and pilates and yoga classes, and recruit as many women as are willing and able to go train in something that is effective and will help them on the street. Then they should heavily arm all the women they meet with a wide variety of weapons. Every home should have something to punch really hard, something to throw knives into, and something to swing sticks at. They should also agree to go with them to all major martial arts schools within a 500-mile vicinity, and either go to seminars with them or be nothing other than completely supportive for the large amount of time they spend training, talking about training, or doing excercises to get better conditioned for training. In fact, if a woman is doing her job and the kids, plants and animals are fed, the house is clean and all other business is taken care of, and of course she is spending enough time with her friends, family and s.o., she should get to train for as little or as long of her remaining free time as she deems necessary. Have at it, Lonehusky, go recruit women from the cheerleading club and turn them into an amazon fighting force.
