  • How to hang big 'ole mirrors?

SO, we have a number of large mirrors hung on the walls at our gym and one of them broke and needs replacing to match the others.

It is held up with some sort of tar or glue-like substance gobbed on the back of the mirror and directly to the sheetrock.

Has anyone any experience with this arrangement? If I knew what that glue substance was, I could research how to remove it. Beyond that, I guess I could make a jig to position the glass and press it into new sticky goo.

If anyone has done this job, or seen it done, I'd appreciate any advice.

(glass company wants 160.00 for the mirror and another 250.00 for the work)

I've got a mirror installed on my ceiling...

....fan. The goo holding them against the base plate ain't enough to stop 'em from cracking when I look up

The Gooy stuff is probably the same as the kind used to put tiles in your bathroom
I think the only way to remove it is to scrape it off

I'm thinking it's pretty similar stuff. My new plan is to put a big dry-erase board there and use it for announcements and such.

          Hey Greg,

Do you have dutch ancestors...just kidding, if it isn't part of a complete mirror wall, it is a hell of a lot cheaper then the mirror( including mounting)
