Where do you go for a quick bite? Personally it's Wendy's and Hardee's for me.

  • #2
Well we don't have wendy's or Hardee's etc etc
Mac, BK and KFC are the only big names, most of the dutch people will go to a socalled "snackbar", if not then a place where they sell Dönner of Shoarma

One of my favorite snackfoods is a snack called "Berehap" translated into english that would be a bearbite ( tom yum, can correct me on that one)
It is a meatball cut up into slices inbetween the slices, there are slices of union, all placed on a scewer(sp?) and over it goes peanut sate sauce

And you've got Febo...like an old-fashioned version of Mac D but you can get beer and better ice cream, if I recall correctly.

PS - for our non-EU or non-Dutch friends, Shoarma is like a gyro, stuffed with beef, lettuce and special sauces. If that doesn't make sense, then think of it as a 'soft-taco', but with Middle Eastern spices.

You've given me a good idea...

I'm thinking of making hutspot (sp?), but using pindasauce...

Febo, well they are still around it what we call "automatiek"

Shoarma and Gyros look the same both use pitabread shoarma uses lamb, Gyros too but if you expect one and get the other, you might be disapointed.
I was the first time we accedently bought Gyros meat instead of shoarma meat ( prespiced)

hutspot using pindasauce? I think you mean stamppot, hutspot is one particular kind of stamppot, with unions, carrots and potato and possibly some bacon bits
What are you thinking of "stamping"(mashing) together besides pindasauce

Toudiyama - get thee to a "sweaty window"!

Some of the best fastfood I had in Japan - Freshness Burger or Mosburger.

            (Whither Yoshinoya? )

Portions are a bit tiny though, esp. by North American standards.

BK in Singapore was great. They actually had a Rendang burger!

In Vancouver, I'll take the take-out window char-siu fan from on of the local Chinese joints. BBQ pork on rice. Or ya fan. Duck on rice. Best kind of fast food.

Gyro's are awesome 1000 times better than burgers especially with tazeki suace on them my gf is in U.A.E. and i was trying ot explain what gyro's are to her and she said that it sounds like Shoarma, btw do they have gyro's in the phillipines?
As for burgwers I'm partial to the triple whopper with cheese just for the extreme amopumt of maet you can have two meal from that burgeer lol
Btw does anyone remember the MCDLT for mthe mid eighties by far the best fvast fod burger ever but because it came in styrofoam it was discontiuned so I had ot swith to the double wopper at burger king.
y gf really loves big macs but I think they have been to small for years the last time I ate them I had ot buy two lol. The burger from hardees that was described is great as well but there is no hardees in my area. Is anyone an arby's fan? I love the giant roast beef sandwhich. ALso quizno's has stopped putting what used ot be a huge amount of meat in their italian sub now it is a joke. It used ot be so big no one could eat more than a 6 inch sandwhich now it's just like all the rest of the sandwhich places.

I don't mind going to a burger place or somewhere like Taco Bell (aka taco belch) or Hardee's with a group of friends coz I love their stuff. One thing I liked about Hardee's spicy Buffalo Chicken Sandwich is the hot sauce-FRANK'S. Its really hot!
