  • the reason i left karate for tkd

    the reason i lfet karate for tkd is.
    my dad passed away on nov-9-06 and when i went back after a month off iso i could clean my dads appartment out the teacher was picking on me
    like get your leg up higher mat you can do higher and so on for the whole class tme i felt un happyi told him so and he said i do it all the time.
    and he did not care that someone has a learning disabilty which i am not getting in to now i wnet to tkd in saratoga , ny and love it
    he cares he has a class with people with needs and he is great he lets me take part in am adoult class now and then then i go back to the special needs program from matt blake

      sounds like he was only trying to encourage you to push yourself farther. thats what a good teacher is supposed to do matt.

        yes but every time i go i get picked on by him and i know he need to encurige me but it was acking like picking on me frommatt blake

            Eh no it doesn't not with people with a learning disability.
            It doesn't matter if you tell them over and over, you need to offer it in a way that makes it more easy to understand, that's what a good teacher does, search for way to make the learning curve more steep
            different people learn in different ways, it is to duty of the teacher to use all the methods.
            If I have students that have difficulty then I try to come up with excercises that would help them, not continue on the same way over and over again

            Make them FEEL how their body works, this makes correcting their own techniques a lot easier

            sometimes a student only need to feel the difference between what they are doing and how it "Should" be done

            Matt, what style of karate was that? (or does the Karateschool have a website?) Also from one of your pictures it looks like your current teacher actually has special classes for people with a learning disability, is that correct? If it is,that does make it a bit easier as the tempo of one will probably not slow down another student of that group
