I guess I should speak on behalf of dudes who are 'unavailable' and have bad ass girlfriends.

While I don't support the idea or truly understand it myself, for some reason they seem to attract the best of the bad-ass girlfriends lol.

Good stuff, Mike. Unfortunately I can count on one hand the number of truly bad ass girlfriends I've had in my entire life and still have a finger or two left.

I'm not exactly the submissive, shy, introverted type; I tend to play myself down as much as possible because I know there are folks out there who do things better than I do and I'm okay with that and have stepped in the ring against some world class fighters, for sparring whom I know I would get whipped by and still put up a decent show (only because of their mercy, considering their record....) while also gently putting down loud-mouth n00bs who said they were gonna f*ck me up.

I guess the defenition of bad-ass girlfriend I was looking at is a bit different than yours; independent yes. competitive/aggressive - somewhat but not over the top.

I knew a gal that would get extremely jealous of other good looking women in the bars & clubs and found myself trying to pull her off the girl and threatening to bash her head into different places. That ain't attractive to me.

As far as a guy they can whip?

Man I love teaching 'em how to box or do muaythai and doing a little light sparring. Sometimes they can hit pretty hard but I've never been whipped by any of my girlfriends. Never. When I taught at a woman's shelter, I let a 160-lb woman with alot of street experience (also not my gf type lol) land a few and I've got to admit that I've never been hit as hard as that from a gal yet, but my goal isn't to fight them, act tough and knock them down; its too build their skill or in some cases - confidence.

Perception plays just as an important role too, doesn't it?

Most people would never imagine by looking at me or hearing me speak that I like to spar, grapple and fight or do things of that nature simply because the topic never comes up in alot of circles.

I don't look rough at all and when I've invited folks out to see me train, they think I'm mean or destructive just because I pound the bag/pads as fast and aggressively as I can and go at it when I spar, even though there's not an ounce of hatred when I'm doing it.

Same with exchanges. I put my foot down when I don't agree with something and sometimes I get myself into a longer 'discussion' than I intend to.

When I think of bad ass girlfriend? I think of independent, open minded, sensible, passionate, down to earth, funny etc.

It's easy for me to describe because those are the things I fell in love with right off the bat.
I guess I took the whipping thing literally, but I see what you mean.

I was imagining the kind of woman you were talking about and its very impressive. I like how you kind of described yourself in a way, talking about your wife. That's a nice thing.

It takes a very special person to be happy because they chose to be so, regardless of their cicrumstances. Even better, someone whose upbeat most of the time. Any woman like that is a jewel of a person!

Good stuff, Mike. I'll think about it deeper.

I guess I haven't found a gal that I have to work to keep up with. That's not something I normally think about, although I once thought to myself that a man and his woman should create momentum for one another by striving toward their goals and dreams and riding off of each other's buzz.
