i think a muay thai fighter like silva who has VERY little ground training (just enough to see when his opponet shoots) would KILL gracie. I do agree that GJJ is a style that not many martial artists can ignore, but to say that a GJJ stylist will win against every other type of fighter is just naive. There have been tons of black belts in GJJ (not gracies, but GJJ black belts) beat down by wrestlers and thai fighters in recent UFC fights. HELL, dan henderson (a wrestler) beat a gracie (renzo?).
the other is:
since there is no such world where no one crosstrains....the whole post is just a waste of time talking about. I could say "ok assume a world where NO kicking was allowed" then i could just say that boxing is the best.
i'm trying to be nice (i'm a nice guy) and not insult you, but REALLY.....the whole 'my style will defeat your dragon style' is ran into the ground. So give it a rest man....everyone here is already convinced to the effectiveness of GJJ. BUT unlike you, everyone here is not taking a religious stance towards it.
GJJ 10 years ago is not the same GJJ it is now. 10 years ago there was almost no emphasis on leg/ankle locks because the gracies considered them 'unpure'. (here i think 'unpure' was meant to say that it leaves you in a bad position if the submission fails')
but other than all that....welcome to the forum and i'm glad you're this pumped about GJJ, but remember that anything created by man will have flaws.
