  • Guro Hock Hochheim In London

Guro W. Hock Hochheim will be teaching a 3-day Pacific Archipelago Combatives camp in London on January 24, 25 & 26. This Presas family"Essence of the Pacicific Island Fighting Arts" based system consists of single and double stick, empty hand, close quarter knife combat and stick & knife combined with intense ground fighting (not college wrestling) to comprise this highly combative and very effective form of martial arts. This will be the very first European Meeting of the P.A.C. event, which will include The Killshot Stick & Knife Tournament. There will be a special guest instructor- Wolfgang Mueller, who is the highest ranking Lameco instructor (directly under Edgar Sulite) in Europe. For more information about the seminar and Killshot rules contact Joe Hubbard at www.functionalfighting.com Phone: +44 (0)20 8549 8150 or 07971 588309.

    This was an excellent seminar.

From the little I've seen of it, the beauty of Hock's approach is that he's systematised a whole heap of what can be bewildering techniques from various arts. He described it at the seminar as a 'combat skeleton' that you can flesh out in various places as you see fit.

Hock himself was surprisingly laid back and approachable and brimming over with real life anecdotes and stories from his time in the police and military.

The Killshot tournament was kind of interesting, too. i didn't participate but in future would like to, it looked like a good way to 'pressure test' some of that fancy stick twirlin'. Amazing just how ugly and brutal some of the fights looked (though no one, as far as i know, got hurt).

Anyway, if you're in the UK I'd definately recommend checking Hock out next time he's here. This was probably the best seminar I've ever been to.

It was an exellent seminar. Hock is an amazing man. His war stories were a brilliant contribution to the seminar and I'm sure I remember all them as he told them in such an animated way.
The killshot tourney was a brilliant experience for me too, still got the 'stab wounds' in my ribs. They match the scars on my wrist from Joe's aluminium knife.

      Deano,

I was the young guy, shaved hair, glasses. Which 'one' were you? lol

      Peace,

      Keeper

        hey keeper,

I'm a youngish guy with short hair, goatee type thing. spent the seminar training with a female friend. I think you took a picture of us at the end.

glad you enjoyed it as much as me. You did pretty good in the killshot, well done.

Hi Deano (I thought it was you),

Thanks a lot. It was the first time I did anything like that so I was really happy with the places I got. 2nd in single stick, 3rd in knife or something like that.

Hey, will you be at the Survival Ground-Fighting seminar in London on march 7th? It sounds really good. Certainly a worth-while skill to have.

When I get those pics developed, I'll e-mail you a copy of your's.

          Cheers

            That'd be great, thanks.

unfortunately can't make Joe's ground fighting seminar due to other commitments. I bet it will be really useful, though. what I've seen of the Congress's groundfighting stuff is well cool. Kind of hardcore Silat type movements all focussed on getting off the ground as quickly as reasonably possible.
