I'll do a quick review as I am still away.

Krabi Krabong: The Buddhai Sawan Path is a two dvd set devoted to the Buddhai Sawan method of krabi krabong created by Ajaan Samai Mesamarn. The first dvd is titled Thai Warrior Heritage and it focuses on the life of Ajaan Samai and the creation of the school and the system of teaching. The dvd covers alot of history of the original buddhai sawan and the historical ties to the great Kings and warriors of thailand. It provides alot of insight into Ajaan Samai's life and devotion to the thai martial arts. Whats nice for those of us who never made it to the original buddhai sawan school(which is now closed and gone) is that you get a sense of what it was like to train there and you see many of the demos and training sessions in action. The first dvd is a large overview of ajaan samai's life and how you progressed through the training. I liked alot at the end which closed with footage of Ajaan Samai's funeral which was very sad. The DVD is full of completely rare and unseen footage/photos and detailed coverage of the complete spectrum of training available there from the muay boran to the weapons.

DVD two is called The Primary Weapons and it covers single sword, double sword, and staff. This is straight forward and easy to understand. It shows Ajaan Samai overseeing and teaching two of his instructors the various weapons. Its clear and easy to follow and understand. OUtstanding early tv footage of Ajaan Webster from texas demonstrating some of the weapons fits in real nicely. I believe the footage was kept in the order and progression that Ajaan Samai wanted. You can see how well organized it was and how once understanding basics you could use them across the various weapons.

The Two DVDs are really a priceless record of a teacher and school that no longer exists. The Buddhai Sawan method continues to be taught extensively in thailand and abroad but this takes us back to the actual training under the late Ajaan Samai within the original school. Great sequences, photos and voice over round out the dvds.

I find them exceptional from a point of view of wanting to see the school, the late Ajaan Samai and the Buddhai Sawan method taught as well as how the school was run on a daily basis.

One bonus sequence of a krabi krabong demonstration is featured on each disk.

THis is a lot of information jam packed on the discs well worth several viewings. The dvds are really for anyone of any level interested in this system and can be utilized by people from any system.

$59.95 for the double disc set.

Well worth supporting purchasing these discs as some of the money goes toward further research and more dvds on the various other grandmasters and systems of KK still in existence.

I would like to add that in there is also a clear explanation of the historical
periods that saw the birth of the weapon systems, with detailed information on the Kings and warriors of Thailand. There is also a small description of the different systems of Krabi Krabong that evolved later, with a link to the Burmese and Laotian systems as well. It is very interesting if you consider that the Burmese sword style and the northern Thai style influenced themselves.
There is also a beautiful display of Thai, Burmese, Laotian swords and other weapons, some of which are quite rare as well.
Techniques and methods of the Buddhai Sawan follow up, with Por Kru Samai
teaching and watching over his students in all the steps of learning the primary weapons.
One good thing about the first dvd is that along the mainly technical aspect
there is also a description and explanation of the spiritual one, which is very important as well. There is also a nice competition fight in a university, which gets a bit nasty sometimes.

About the second dvd, I can add that it shows techniques with the primary weapons in detail and yes, it's in the order Por Kru Samai wanted and how he taught in his school. It's a great opportunity to be able to see how things worked at the Buddhai Sawan, which is no longer what it was.

These dvds are the result of long research and dedicated work, with a clear and knowledgeable insight of the Buddhai Sawan school first, and of other systems as well.
It is also a homage to one of the late great masters of Krabi Krabong and his school.

I think it is priceless for those who train in Krabi Krabong, no matter the system, and a source of good and valuable information for those who don't know Krabi Krabong. I would reccomend it to any martial artist, no matter the style.
