  • Question for the US soldiers of this site

Why did you join the army in the first place? Do you think it was one of your best or worst decision? What are some benefits of joining the army?

I'm asking cause I may want to join the navy or marines when I come to age and I want hear from your opinions on the matter.

Because every citizen should participate in and understand the military of the country in which they live. Otherwise when you read history or news reports you have no basis to understand the events you need to vote on. Besides in my family its a right of passage into adulthood and awareness of the real world. It also allows a good look at the social and economic ramifications of the political double speak that shapes your life. Best damn decision I EVER made was joining, (especially since my family would have killed me otherwise. )

Seriously though, if you come home you WILL see the world differently than those who ain't ever been, and that is priceless...experience is better than any book or movie or newspaper account ...If you wanna help out and as a side affect find out what happens in the name of your country first hand, By all means take the oath.

      I became a Marine...
      I am a Marine...
      I WILL ALWAYS BE...a Marine!

      what else has that simplicity!

My love for this country and ALL OF ITS privledges, has me over here again, not in an enlistment, but by choice. Anything that I can do to put my part and always say that "I had someting to do with that" so that others can sip on thier latte's and come home to thier families every night...thats worth it for me.

I am a contractor. what does that mean, to some, that means I am only here for the money...money is good, better than cop pay, but what does it mean to me, it means that I believe in this so much that I dont have to be here, but I choose to. i am compensated well for being here, and I would not be here if I did not have the milatary experience notch on my belt, as many jobs look to the milatary as a huge plus because you know what it is to "be" a part of something and not for yourself...I would want that as an employer, but it also means that I have left my family, without my phyical support, without an extra hand, and without a complete sence of security, I have made that choice, with the support of my family, to do my part in what i believe to be the right thing to do.

here is something to think about...

"what does your inner feelings think is the right thing to do?"

if you dig deep, really think about what it can do/not do for you, and really go with what you feel, with no outside influnce (family, recruiter)...

you will make the right choice...but just remember, you are the only one who has to "face" your decision.

P.S. I bet boarspear looked cute in his "bell bottoms"

                  New question

Where do you go to get tested to become a CIA agent? And what kind of information I should learn to be prepared for it?

Cause I know I need some requirements before becoming a agent. Like I need a masters degree and being fluent in at least one foreign language. Well lucky for me I am latino so foreign language I have it down packed. But what other things I should be learning?
