1. Any power that can be abused will be abused
2. Abuse always expands to fill the limits of resistance to it.
3. If people don't resist the abuses of others, they will have no one to resist the abuses of themselves, and tyranny will prevail.

BoarSpear: Granted there was some namby pamby grab and control the guy shit they teach now,
You said it, it should have ended there. That was the stuff I was talking about.
BoarSpear: MMA doesnt usually teach tactical anything and guns and knives are hardly their focus since Helio already explained the bullet proof shield.
And JJJ/judo/FMA/Mongolian wrestling FMA/Silat CMA's does?
(I see that’s what you have down as the arts you have trained in)
BoarSpear: MMA's will prepare you for tactical situations and gun and knife fights LOL. I've wasted enough time on you...go educate the 18 years olds who will buy what youre selling because its what they want to hear, be popular, and get people killed go right ahead...MMA for tactical training and guns and knives..BWAHAHAHA
Yes, and JJJ/judo/FMA Mongolian wrestling FMA/Silat CMA's does?
You have no idea what I train in you stupid ass. And it isn’t MMA. When you talk tactical you don’t know what the **** you’re talking about. MMA isn’t tactical and I never said it was it’s just a platform that is incorporated into the mix.
My background is in wrestling, Muay Thai, and karate before and while in the military. Later I trained in Arnis and my interest in the MMA is rather new (last 10 years).
Our fighting matrix is like a leatherman tool. The handle (base) has two working parts. The first is our strength and conditioning, the second is our physical unarmed skills. Everything else hinges on this. Such as our knife and gun drawstroke, movement, knife fighting (striking angles, etc), stick fighting, improvised weapons, and gunfighting (and all its components i.e. retention, loading/reloading, accuracy, clearing type 3 malfunctions expeditiously, movement patterns, etc), and etc. Each is a part of the whole.
The unarmed skills exist to keep you alive and in the fight until weapons can be accessed. If you can go straight to weapons…so much the better. If you read other posts of mine I talk about this shit all the time.
If the double leg takedown to the ground and pound teaches you anything about combat then in the street it would be an all out drag race to the gun. So, in other words shooting in for the double leg isn’t to go immediately to the ground and pound or some type of submission, it is to buy yourself an opportunity to get to your weapon. It simply makes better sense instead of following some type ground progression to control and submission to simply pull the knife (or gun) and have a much easier time of it.
What we want to do is to dominate our opponent by the most efficient means possible that means if the gun is an option we immediately go for the gun. If the knife is an option (and the gun isn’t) then we immediately go for the knife. If an improvised weapon is an option (and the gun and knife are not) then we immediately go for the improvised weapon. If the unarmed method is an option (and the gun, improvised weapon, and knife or not) then we immediately go for our unarmed skill sets. Striking has a higher priority than grappling, the stand up grapple has a higher priority than the ground grapple, but the ground grapple is important so we can regain our feet or have the ability to access weapons while on the ground.
This leads me to default positions. Mine are: my gun already drawn (for when he is further away), the lateral movement pattern (for stand off distance), or the fence (for closer up). From the fence I can preemptively strike, elbow shield, draw a weapon, aggress forward or the lateral movement pattern. We have now covered all the ranges. The elbow shield can lead to a chin-jab, which can lead to a shove-off, which can make distance for a gun draw. See how they are all interrelated? All this is a part of an integrated combative program. Everything I train in is integrated in such a fashion from weapon to weapon and range to range.
We want to be able to direct all available force in the most direct and efficient way possible and in some parts of that video I did not see that. Instead of the fancy stuff just fucking stab the other guy already, repeatedly. That is my gripe of the combatives shown on the video…Nothing more.
Read my other posts and you will see that I am not ungrounded in reality. I love combatives but it is what it is. Some are good, some are bad, and some have good and bad. I will call bull shit when I see it. Quite making up things I didn’t say.
I am done and I have nothing else to say on the matter.

stabbychick]darrianation, I am confused about your point here. Are you saying that all you need to do is train MMA and if you then put a gun or a knife in your hand you'll have everything you need? Are you advocating doing MMA mixed with WWII Combatives?
I am an eclecticist (it is a word). I take from anything I find useful. What I mean is we need to have all ranges of combat covered, long range, stand off range, striking range, and grappling rang (stand up grapple and the ground grapple). I am not a pure MMA guy.
What MMA brings to the table is a stout striking and grappling platform taken from such systems as BJJ, western wrestling (Greco-Roman), Russian Sambo, western boxing, and Muay Thai. But beside the boxing punches and Muay Thai stuff I also incorporate the chin-jab, ax hand, face smash, tiger claw, hammer fist, pivot kick, artifice, etc. I also incorporate Rich Demitri’s stuff like the shredder, etc. I will incorporate anything from anywhere I find useful.
The chief cornerstone of combatives is integration after all.
Are you saying that a wrestler with a knife is more of a threat than someone trained in the FMA's?
You missed the point. It wasn't about his training; it was about who he is as a person. A Real world Jedi operator with tons of real world experience in violence. Big, strong, mean, and violent. The kind of guy who exudes that subconscious confidence that makes folks take notice or cross the street in fear when they see him coming down the street…the kind off guy the bad asses won’t mess with.. This guy would take most folks MMA fighter, FMA fighter, etc, to the cleaners in a no rules event.
And JJJ/judo/FMA/Mongolian wrestling FMA/Silat CMA's does?

Here's my last reply to you, since I'm not sure of the point you attempted to make here I'll smack your dumb ass from both directions before I leave you to gloat in your wealth of knowledge. I'm not sure if thats a bullet proof shield crack if so then Only Gracie JJ has the distinction, Helio claimed it not me...so if thats your attack it failed and you dont know enough about the discussion to be in it and youre wasting my time.
If you're implying the FMA/silat doesnt teach knives you're dumber than I thought possible. Or perhaps that was a shot at the gun reference, and again you would just show you dont know enough on the subject to be discussing it because one of those styles DOES teach firearms and the style has a name of its own within the base style to designate it as such, but I dont know shit and you couldnt learn anything from my ignorant ass Mr genius so I wont insult you by telling which style it is , OR you how stupid you look about now...BYE BYE.

I have to stop this shit this is ridiculous. I was refereeing to your statement about MMA and tactics. Not knives. You keep making shit up.
You are a fucking retarded moron. Simple enough. You talk a big game with threats yet you are far away in a safe place. The vid you showed had some good and bad. I called bull shit bull shit nothing more. You came after me with a vengeance and I don't know why and I don’t care.
